For those that burn your phish shows onto CD, how do you go about storing them? What do you think is the best, most efficient way to do so? I have a buncha shows jus tlying around and I’d like to get some sort of organized storage together. Thanks. ;D
i think there is another thread about this somewhere.
i just store mine in 200-disc CD books. easily accessible, easy to take to and from my car, etc.
yes, i’ve recently discovered that storing them in spindles is NOT the best idea, as the ones on the bottom eventually start to crack under the pressure of those above
Alright, sounds good, I’ve already got a huge binder pretty much full of Phish, I guess that does seems like the best way to store. Thanks!
I go with spindles.
Any way they are going to be “ruined” no matter how you store them really, unless you take care of them. I don’t like using the CD-books because I always feel when I slide them in or out it scratches them up. Same with front-loading car CD players.
have my dvds in a spindle, cds in a book
That dosn’t make sense…when you buy blanks they come on spindles, and I’ve never seen a brand-new blank cracked. Unless you stack spindle on top of spindle. I really don’t see how this could be a problem. I’m not accusing you of lying, I’m just saying that it isn’t logical for a disk to break when in a spindle…
^sorry, I probably should have added that I am also stacking spindles on top of eachother. Plus some at the bottom may have not been closed/latched properly or something so that the lid was also putting some side pressure on the lower discs…idunno…plus i may have had dvd’s on top of cd’s (in the same spindle or in another spindle on top of that spindle).
[color=maroon]you spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round right round
so yeah, it’s pretty much down to me as to why it happened, could also have been that they were extremely cheap discs and broke more easily…they’ve never split in half or anything, just started to crack and/or flake around the center or outer edge. as you probably have intuited from above, i’m still storing them this way, so it’s not a major concern…although i’m moving towards just using external hard drives for personal storage and cd’s for trades etc.
I don’t think mixing dvds and cds should be a problem, they’re the exact same size, and, afaik, the same weight…
I don’t own it, but didn’t live phish six come with some sort of organizer? Not pretaining exactly to what you need if you have a lot of shows, but I was just curious.
Shoe boxes. Binders. Be creative. Shelves even, if you have emptey closet space or something>
the blanks don’t crack because there’s no music on them. when they’re full of music, they weigh a lot more, hence the cracking.
duh!

Then what? Stack them?
put them on a shelf/file them/shoe box/larger folded up paper
I don’t like using the CD-books because I always feel when I slide them in or out it scratches them up. Same with front-loading car CD players.
exactly!!!
damn…did we have this conversation before? seriously…
^ I like to use mine as coasters for guests when we are drinking. This will not hurt them at all… he he
^
i hears ya. i use mine for skeet shooting on weekends.
;D
If I put mine up my ass I’d know it.
