Chalk Dust Torture

Discuss!

Two of the three concerts I saw; they opened with chalkdust torture; I would have been disappointed at the second concert, but it had been stuck in my head all day, and somehow I just knew they would open with it, so when they did I went crazy; it has since become one of my favorite phish songs, and I think it is one of those songs where everyone can relate, because no one likes school.

Such a great song, first phish song I learned to play on guitar. Its so fun. Danceable, good frantic jam and a good riff.

I never really was too fond of the IT version. I think it is overrated.

It’s still the best one I’ve heard, maybe it helps because I can actually see what’s going on.

I used to do tour so forgive the fact that it was high on my list at first but i soon grew alil tired of hearing it so much. Therefore versions such as 11-27-98 and 7-10-99 and shoreline 03 for example are some of my favorite versions. i needed to hear some crazy off the walll versions to keep my appreciation for this fine tune.

This is easily my favorite Phish tune. I go through phases where I’ll be into David Bowie, or Meatstick for week, but the one song I always come back to is Chalk Dust Torture. Am I the only one?

Odds are.

jk.

This is probably my 33rd favorite Phish tune.

Nope, it’s great to listen to, too. I do hate how Trey seems to always force them to end Chalkdusts by returning to the chorus.

8/9/93 Chalkdust > Who Knows Jam > Chalkdust is definately one of my favorite versions of this tune. (thanks neck)…

I think Chalkdust is just one of those songs that it is almost impossible to get sick of. It just rocks so hard…what a fucking song.

chalkdust is one of the first phish songs i heard, and i loved it ever since.

i did not like chalk dust at first…now i cant get enough of it.

a classic. This is one song I think should be kept a bit shorter though.

I love this song. I like the jammed out versions a lot, my two favorites are IT, and 08/09/04 for a good dust jam. The one form the 1999 live phish release at Camdon is great also. I have too admit though I would rather them keep this tune under 10 minutes if I was at the concert it was being played at.

I think my favorite is still the Camden 99 version. The IT one is interesting but it’s all over the map.

the IT version is COMPLETELY overrated in my book. i’ll go on record with that. I can’t get into it at all. i think i’ve even said that before in another thread.

check that.

THIS thread.

whoa. I just heard 11/27/98. AWESOME Chalkdust sandwich. It would have been cool if they finished the chalkdust though at some point. I don’t really like the IT version either. I like straight ahead raging Chalkdusts.

Check the 6/18/04 version. Very experimental.

7/30/03 Chalkdust = the shit
