Voting will closed sunday at midnight EST. If no single format is leading by five (5) votes at that time, there will be a run off of the top two choices.

This poll is not exclusive. New members are encouraged to vote. The poll will also give us an idea of the number for people who plan to participate in the match… so if you want to be involved - vote!

If there is confusion about a choice… voice your concern before you vote. Once you submit your vote there’s no going back. You can also refer to the ‘mike says yes to chess’ thread for discussion of the formats.

Feel free to use this space to rally for your cause… but keep it breezey.

Meetings…definetly. Although everyone may not be the best chess player, it’s more fair to all those on OKP.

I just think the chat room will get too crowded and confusing, plus with a poll it’s way easier for everyone to get involved and it would really be “The Oh Kee Pa” vs. “Cactus” in a more community-like fashion.

My vote is in… Poll (pollsters selected by chess tournament). I like the idea of discussing moves in the chat room but I can’t see it being organised well enough.

To me the best option would be to have the winners of a chess tourney decide the best available moves and create a poll where we can all vote for the move to be played.

Saying that, once the poll is made, everyone should have the chance to make their own points about which one they voted (or didn’t vote) for within the thread associated with the poll.

AND we should all even be able to suggest OTHER moves IF by chance someone comes up with a winning idea that the tourney winners have not posted as an option. Maybe that should be reserved to PM’s/chat with the chess-erators to discuss these ideas before littering the polls with myopic move suggestions.

PLUS, as someone mentioned before, is there any way to be sure that Mike isn’t watching our strategic discussions? Should we just trust that Gordo wouldn’t cheat? Maybe we could bury the move polls deep in some thread somehow? Idunno

That’s why I think the chatrooms the best idea…we can pm people…especiallly the tournament winners and set up a time to meet in the chatroom and decide on the next move…I don’t really care though…I’m on Mike’s team…I’m just going to leak information to him anyway.

^ Golden is right, not to say mike will cheat, cause i have more faith in his integrity than that, but i still think its not too god of an idea to post our moves discussion on the site, maybe make a separate thread soemwhere else thats password protected? i dunno if its possible, just a thought…

I don’t like the chat room idea. Reason being that if you have ever been in there when there is say… 6 or more people… HECTIC.

It seems like the chat room would be impossible.

^ But that’s why we just have the four or so tournament winners in there deciding…that keeps it a bit more private, but also allows for real time discussion of moves, which I think would move it along more efficiently…maybe have our four or five chess stars meet up in there and come up with the moves to have on the polls?

We really need to look at using everyones thoughts and interaction. PHISH is based off of phan interaction. So was the chess matches they had, correct?

Let us try our best to keep all here involved, but make it easy for the game to run smooth…

i think we can move forward under the assumption that mike won’t view our discussions. we’ll let let him know certain threads are off limits. 3 days of polling left.

poll (pollsters selected by chess tournament)… i would feel safest with this one. when and where are the tournaments? vs. cactus=will it be a move each week? day? whole game in a day? i am not a very good chess player and not everyone is but, it would be great for everyone to get in on the action. i think this is the best way. i would rather vote on moves that are presented to me from someone with knowledge then myself.
