So us lazy shoppers have less than 10 days to blow our cash. :o

Here’s an idea: List a person and tell us a little bit about them and why you have no idea what to get them. The next poster can help out by throwing an idea out there. I’ll start.

My brother is 25.
Disclaimer: *He developed Erythromelalgia several years back, a disease that affects people who cook or play instruments and resembles Repetitive Stress Disorder. He’s getting better each year and this year his hands are pretty much fine.

He loves to:

  1. cook
  2. listen to music
  3. learn about french cooking
  4. Watch quality comedic TV shows (Trailer park boys, Sunny in PA)

He is harder to shop for than it seems. Any ideas?? ???

I can’t help ya with ideas. I’m probably doing the gift certificate thing again, since I hate shopping, and all my family cares about is how much money I spend on the gifts.

I’d go to barnes and noble or borders and look for a good cook book on french cuisine. Theres lots of cook books out there and some that are probably brand new. You could also just get him sunny in pa on dvd. I imagine they only have one season on dvd because it hasn’t been around that long. Just my two cents.

^they have seasons 1-3 on DVD out already…I’ve been borrowing them from a buddy.

Seasons 1 and 2 come in one set.

A good chefs knife, I use a Shun 8 inch chef and also have the four inch pareing and the 10 inch sushi but the 8 inch chefs I use the most, also their Vegetable cleaver is quite nice.
a Le creuset dutch oven, probably the most usefull pot in my kitchen aside from my 10 cast iron skillet & 10 inch caphalon sautee pan
a good table top end grain butchers block (john Boos makes a great one)
A mandolin (not the one you play the slicer) essential for jullienne, long slicing, esscaloped tater slicing…if he likes french cooking he needs one of these
a cuisenart (pesto anybody?)
if you want a great stocking stuffer go to amazon and buy him some Truffle Salt, I use it on everything it is the most bad ass seasoned salt ever (bacon salt is a close second you can get that there too)

as for the itunes gift card why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free :wink:

Yep, DAMN…He got the Mandoline last year, I’m gonna do the butchers block and the salt. I owe ya one, much thanks.

You will blow your wad when you try that salt on a scrambled egg OMFG, the block I have is the one with four legs its probably 12x12 and its a great size for everyday hacking
