^Wow, you need to watch more football. The game was good but quite sloppy at times. Half of the time, the teams were beating themselves. But in terms of “high drama”…you got it…it had it in spades. I couldn’t even cheer against either team.
And allow me to make the not-so-bold prediction that Bama/Penn State will be a laugher. True freshman QB going to play the defending champs? Ouch. This will be true-freshman Terrelle Pryor facing USC all over again. Miami/OSU could be awesome, especially with two flashy QBs. And of course UM/ND will be pretty sweet.
And my Spartans get to play FAU. Normally I wouldn’t even blink an eyelid but Howard Schnellenberger scares the crap out of me and given MSU’s shitty secondary, I wonder…
And after last night, all I can say is Marshall’s coach should be fired. The team is up 8, with 4th and ONE on the opponent’s 45 with 3-minutes to go. They’re playing a MUCH more talented team in West Virginia who just completed a 98-yard drive for a TD (easily) to come within 8 points. And this pussy coach punts. Even worse, the color anaylst adamantly agreed with it. What a total pussy move. The football Gods were so angry at such a cowardly move that even though the punt was grounded at the 2, WVU did another 98-yard drive with only one timeout, then got the two point conversion, then kicked a field goal in the OT and OF COURSE Marshall missed their field goal to tie it. Of course they did…no way were the Football Gods allowing a team with such a cowardly coach to win that game.
So now we had Childress punting with 5-minutes to go and never getting the ball back on Thursday. Then the disaster last night. How much more evidence do people need? Stop punting the ball and grow some balls!
Okay, I’m done…
MONSTER Saturday was a MONSTER Dud! Blowouts galore. The Notre Dame vs. Michigan was solid, but none of the other games lived up to the hype BSPN was trying to feed us.
If not for two special team touchdowns THE Ohio State University would have trounced Miami.
Oklahoma put the beat down on FSU.
Bama dominated JoePa.
The worst news of the day for me had to be Va. Tech losing to James Madison. There goes Boise State’s quality win. Ugghhh…The computers will punish Boise again.
KICK THE FUCKING FIELD GOAL!!!

Yeah, isn’t that always the way? A majority of the time, the heavily hyped games don’t live up to it and it’s the smaller matchups that are better. But, heck, even the smaller matchups were pretty weak. Though UM/ND is almost always a great game so at least that lived up to it. Bama was such a predictable beatdown that I predicted it and I thought Miami might do better but I guess that was expected to. And I still don’t understand what’s so great about Jimbo Fisher at FSU. This was the guy who was offensive coordinator under Bowden the last few years and the offense was TERRIBLE in that period…it was the defense that kept FSU in those games. It’s so obvious that some of these coaching hires are for politics more than anything. But, hey, I won’t blame ESPN for hyping games with highly ranked teams…it’s on their station so they’ll hype it. I just avoid the studio shows in general, especially anything involving Lou Holtz. It baffles me that he’s still on the air when he’s so dreadful. I hope ESPN knows that I flip the channel any time his face comes on.
Big surprise there since Tyrod Taylor actually looked pretty darn solid against BSU…and then comes back with that. In more weirdness news, Kansas lost to North Dakota State 6-3 last week and then beat a good Georgia Tech team this week. I’m just confused. And Minnesota got beat by yet another Division II team…don’t they do that every two or three years…maybe you guys should stop scheduling that division alltogether.
As for my Spartans, I’ve seen all the games by MSU, UofM and Notre Dame and the Spartans play both those teams and I think we’re doomed. We’ve looked shaky against both Western Michigan and Florida Atlantic and our secondary looks like it’s just begging to be torched. And Denard Robinson looks like Pat White out there. I’m not sure if he can accurately throw a ball further than 20 yards but he might not need to. He’s such a crazy running threat that defenses have no clue what to do. I’m scared. Hold me.
How about those Wolverines!!
I know its early, very early, but hopefully this year they won’t implode the second half of the season. Officially Ranked 20th in the AP poll ![]()
Article of the day:
Urban Meyer: ‘It’s not a dirty program’
sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5582010
Yeah,…right Urban. 30 effing players have been arrested since you’ve coached there.
And it’s not like you’ve been there that long. What,…this is his 6th year? What a joke.
They make the old Miami Hurricanes look like saints…ok,…maybe not saints,…but alot better then them.
I swear, next to Jawbone, I think the entire state of Florida are criminals.
Anyway…
ND vs. Mich. St.
The Irish need to bounce back on the road.
Game of the week: No. 9 Iowa at No. 24 Arizona
No other real big games for the top 25.
I don’t know…is it really fair to blame the coach when their players get into trouble? It’s not like Urban Meyer is hanging out with them while they go to the club. A coach can only do so much. Even if it’s their first offense, I don’t think it’s that big a deal…they’re kids and kids find trouble sometimes. But if it’s a second offense then a coach needs to put the hammer down. I don’t know enough about the Urban Meyer events to know if this is case but I do know that Urban Meyer didn’t have any of these problems when he was at Utah. So is it the coach?
No.
No, they don’t.
Of course, I’m scared since my Spartans haven’t looked so hot. We’ve played Western Michigan and FAU so this is our first real test against anyone decent. Even crazier that it’s a night game on National TV. The last time the Spartans had a national night game was against the Irish when we had that monumental collapse in the rain. I still have nightmares of that one.
Yeah, this is the “last week we played a decent team so we’re playing a Division-II school this week” week for a lot of the big schools right before everyone dives into their division schedule.

GO STATE!!!
Shoelace Saturdays!!!

GO BLUE!!!
I’m just wondering why it’s week 3 of the season, BUT YET, my college USF Bulls have a fucking bye week? Are you serious? I mean, WTF man? how retarded is that?
Man, that ND vs. Mich St. was a good game.
Although I didn’t like the ending.
That was a great call by State,…even if it was a delay of game.
I love the refs excuse of “lag time”…WTF does that mean? I don’t see “lag time” anywhere in the rule book.
I love how refs are never wrong.
…And I heard that their Head Coach suffered a heart attack after the game.
I hope he’s ok,… that’s bad news after such a great game.
Hey, Boise State had a bye week after their first game against VA Tech. And don’t Pac-10 teams get like there bye weeks over the course of the year. Of course, you have the Big Ten where half the time they don’t get any bye week since they seem to have an obsession with ending their season before Thanksgiving so all the voters can forget about them by the time the final voting rolls around.
And yeah, quite a ridiculous MSU/Notre Dame game which seems to always be a great game every year. In that third quarter I was deathly afraid since it seemed like our defense was going to give up a TD EVERY time the Irish got the ball. They didn’t figure out that the Irish always seem to throw right to the first down marker until the 4th quarter or later.
And the OT play-call…BALLS!!! You’ve all seen me whine about wimpy coaches so of course I loved the ballsy call. I think the coach called it more because the Irish had really done well to stuff the Spartan run-game late in that game and the Spartans aren’t even close to being effective without the run-game going. I think he just wanted to end it. Loved it.
And of course Dantonio apparently figured that he wasn’t going to top that one and promptly had a heart attack right afterward. Craziness. I guess it happened RIGHT after the game…I even heard him doing the post-game radio interview but he never made it to the TV press conference. All reports are that he’s okay but he’ll obviously be out for a few weeks at least. That game almost gave ME a heart attack so I can relate.
And how much did those two teams try to stab themselves in the foot in that game. Always a penalty at the WORST times for both teams. What drama.
GO STATE!!!

TROOF!
^Ghey
Hey, MSU is RANKED this week! 25th in the AP and 23 in the USA Today poll. Go right through for MSU!
![]()
Yeah, that cracked me up. I’ve watched MSU and there’s no way in hell they’re the 25th best team in football. But if anything it shows how people still overrate victories over the Irish even if they haven’t been good in years. Silly voters. But, hey, we’ll take it. We play Northern Colorado this week…that win should bang us up to the mid-teens, right?
I know that sometimes the ref gives the offense an extra second, but this has to be mentioned. There was double 0’s on the play clock when Michigan State snapped the ball for the FG attempt.
It was a great call…honestly the only call in my opinion. No way that FG kicker is hitting a 49 yarder. Great execution though. Props to Michigan State, but yeah that whole play clock has to be at least mentioned.
The next day when the ticker was reading that Mark Dantonio had a heart attack was anyone surprised? Dude looked shocked after they pulled that one off. I’m glad he’s okay as any heart attack is scary. Poor guy couldn’t enjoy the victory.
Should be a great day!
Bama and Arkansas.
Kentucky going into the Swamp and pulling off the upset.
Boise St and Oregon State.
College football is in full swing…!
