I’m as big of an MSU fan as you could find, and I totally agree with this. The Spartans looked good in the second half of the ND game, but that’s it. They looked horrible in their first two games despite wins. I didn’t watch the game yesterday, but we blew out Northern Colorado…so what?
Should be a great day!
Bama and Arkansas.
It almost wasn’t
^ Yeah, you guys dodged a bullet on that one. Of course, Auburn didn’t exactly dominate either, but hey, we’re not the defending #1 National Champs either, so the expectations aren’t as high. A win is a win though, and I’ll take it. War Damn EAGLE!!
I had work during that bama/razerbacks game and it made me nervous. but at the end of the day A win is a win.

VICTORY FOR MSU!!!
1Bama/7florida 34-6!!! what an ass whoopin.
VICTORY FOR MSU!!!
Hell yeah!!! It’s funny how I mentioned them being ranked after beating Notre Dame but they went up in BOTH polls after beating Division-IAA Northern Colorado! But on the bright side, they finally actually earned that ranking with the sweet win over Wisconsin which was probably the best game I’ve seen them play this year. Part of it was due to Wisconsin having a pretty vanilla passing attack…the Spartans weakness is against the pass so Wisconsin kind of played into their hands with the run-heavy offense. I was surprised that State ran the ball so well since no one runs on Wisconsin…good times.
Of course another team with a vanilla passing attack is Michigan and they really haven’t played a good defense yet this year. I’m fairly frightened at Denard Robinson this week but State’s good at stopping that run and Greg Jones should be spying on Denard for the entire frickin game. Gonna be a crazy one. GO STATE!!
And I love the Boise State thing but I have to agree with Oregon jumping them in the polls. Not only is Oregon playing good teams every week (the Pac-10 always encourages tough non-conferences) but they’re DESTROYING good teams every week. Sorry Boise. That’s how this stupid system works. Just give us a playoff and none of this is an issue.
And the Florida/Bama ass-whuppin was pretty predictable. And why the fuck was BC/Notre Dame the ABC game while Oregon/Stanford was the ESPN2 game and Washington/USC wasn’t even ON?? Way to blow that one, ESPN.
^ To make you feel a little better, we didn’t get to see Oregon/Stanford.

Kudos to the Spartans for that beating…I was worried all year about the Wolverines Defense and today showed why…Stupid Penalties, Horrid Tackling and Blown Assignments… ![]()
And Shoelace is Human…Still such a Raw Passer, much improved over last Season but still needs tons of work… ![]()
And Bama got BUMPED!!!
Some great games today!!
Wow! The Boilermakers beat undefeated Northwestern. I didn’t expect any more wins this year.
Too bad 'Bama lost (wife’s school). But It’s always nice watching highly ranked PAC-10 teams go down.
Friggin Auburn pulling a close one there but we pulled it out! I can’t believe that shit. Had a 31-17 lead at halftime and then almost blew the game. 6-0 now though, so woo hoo. We were ranked #8 going into the game, I’m wondering if the ranking will change one way or the other after this.

I find this very appropriate:

That victory was so nice, this picture needs to be posted twice! ![]()

BWAHAHAAHAHAH!! This is awesome.
Seriously, I always felt that Denard wasn’t that great a passer from last year but it wasn’t really bearing itself out until this week (again, playing a real defense). It seems to me that when Denard has a threat of either running or passing, his passing improves because defenses have to stay home on him. But in the situations where it’s third and long, and the defense KNOWS he’s going to throw, there’s obvious issues. Look at his first two INTs in that game and he wasn’t pressured at ALL. He’s got plenty of time in the pocket, the Spartans didn’t blitz and just played straight coverage and he made the bad throw. And with the third INT he does the strange practice of pump-faking to the same guy that he was going to bomb it to which guaranteed that the receiver was double-covered. And the Michigan defense…well…that’s what happens when you hire the worst Syracuse coach in history. We knew the best way to beat UM was to have nice long drives on offense and they did just that.

Even more unreal is the rankings. State is 6-0 and is ranked 13 in the AP poll and 11 in the coaches poll. And if you believe the silly BCS rankings, we’re #9??? This is unreal. This team looked so shaky in the first four weeks and really came together against Wisconsin. And the remaining schedule is pretty winnable aside from @Iowa. I’m not making any guarantees because anyone can lose to anyone but wow…didn’t see this coming. And, no, I don’t care if we don’t play the Buckeyes…they’ve kicked our asses for ten years straight and probably would have this year also…we needed a break.
GO STATE!!!
And LSU…I still don’t get the hate on Les Miles. Heaven forbid a coach actually takes chances and plays in close games and emphasizes defense. Say what you want, but the dude’s got a silly winning percentage. If LSu seriously fires that guy, they’re retarded. And yeah, this is a Spartan defending a Michigan guy.
Bama…ouch…whatever happened to the run game?
MSU is #7 in the BCS. Watch for the plague of locusts AAANNNYY time now. Though playing Northwestern always scares me…that spread always gave us trouble back in the day. Hopefully we can handle it this week.
MSU is #5! (Head explodes)
Unfortunately for you State fans there goes your chances of something really special this season…although no reason why they can’t run the table on the remainder of their games.
Well Boise State once again is going to get screwed. I think that obviously Oregon and Auburn have to lose. Sadly I think Alabama needs to lose one more for Boise State to have a shot as well.
They need to get in the Big East somehow…I know it doesn’t make sense geographically, but does anything make sense in college football? Big East is such a shit show and they have the automatic BCS berth…plus Boise State’s competition would improve immensely.
Unfortunately for you State fans there goes your chances of something really special this season…although no reason why they can’t run the table on the remainder of their games.
Yeah, that’s just it…The Spartans putting up an 11-1 season would ALSO be something really special. A few years ago, I was just happy if this team made a frickin bowl game…and now we could have a possible one-loss season. Sadly, I saw the Iowa loss a mile away. The Spartan’s biggest strength is running the ball and we couldn’t run the ball against both Illinois and Northwestern and we were expected to do it against Iowa? No way. And with Illinois, their offense was so pathetic, he had a chance and with NW, their secondary was so pathetic we could pass on them the entire time. Cousins was due to have a bad game and he had a really bad one. But liek you said, we can run on the rest of our games and that would be huge and still get us into a pretty badass bowl game. There’s still a chance for a Rose Bowl also which would be the first time for the Spartans since Jesus walked the Earth. That would be nuts.
And yeah, I assumed Boise wouldn’t make it either way. Boise’s better than my Spartans but we would have been ranked above them had we run the table just because we’re in the Big Ten. Either way, this is why I just don’t worry about Championships in college football…it’s not what the sport is about and it never will be until they have a playoff. And why no talk about TCU and Utah getting screwed every year as well? They’ve been just as good as Boise these last few years and Utah even beat frickin Alabama.
I just wonder if they’ll further the insult by once again having Boise and TCU meet in a bowl game to prevent them from making a “BCS Conference” school look stupid.
