I wonder if this is the same source as the one ZHR uploaded a few months ago?

I’ll be interested in seeing how much better this release will sound.

Nice! ;D

A few thoughts:

  1. Holy shit YES!! It’s about time they released something new.
  2. What’s with this “five tracks not available elsewhere” deal?? Does that mean those five tracks are only available if you download the set?? If so, BOO!! I’m not going to shell out for the 3-CD set and have to download it, too.
  3. I think it’s very telling that the first song is The Curtain With.
  4. Alumni Blues > Jimmy Page > Alumni Blues AND Cities > Dave’s Energy Guide > Cities?! FUCK YEAH

Sweet! This is pretty cool and all, but seriously guys, release Cypress.

early phish is always welcom in my book, this looks to be pretty friggin sweet, more to come before xmas?

This is great news! Finally something new!

I like the fact that it’s not really part of the LivePhish series and has a different cover and whatnot.

I love early Phish too (who doesn’t?) and the sound should be pretty damn good!

But seriously guys, release Cypress…

These songs have never been officially released…

Maiden Voyage
Light Up
I Know a Little
Alumni>
LTJP>
Alumni
No Dogs Allowed
Dave’s Energy Guide

I hope they at least include the date of when the songs occured. They should’ve put together a complete Colorado box set un-cut! But I’ll take what I can get…

7/28 is totally MIA! :’(
7/29 Set II circulates, but nothing from set I
8/3 Set III circulates partially; It will be cool to hear Maiden Voyage!
8/4 has never circulated
8/5 has never circulated

Oh man…this is a great choice of release!

thanx for the history thelot, i was just about to check and see if i could find any of those shows, i’m still curious as to what the five bonus tracks are going to be from the livephish site

Finally! I’ve been waiting for these to see the light of day in rematsered form! Guess I’ll have to throw away some more old cassettes…

i just threw on the 7/29/1988 from tela.sugarmegs.org and am enjoying it a lot, only partial show, but still good

nice!!!

greg, i was thinking the same thing bout those bonus tracks. maybe if you pre-order the tangible 3-cd set they could give you a code to get the bonus tracks??? who knows…

I am prolly the only one who will say this, but I just do not care for Phish before 93. I mean I like it, but they just did not explore in their jams back then like they started to later on. I guess this is a historic show, but I would rather have almost any other show worth releasing from 94-00. I will end up buying it and enjoying it, but I can think of 100 shows I would rather have. I did not mean to be so negative, I was just hoping they would stay away from the early shows until they got some of the big ones released.

Seriously, what’s up with the 5 bonus tracks??? I want the cd for the pictures, but I also want the bonus tracks! wtf ???

YES YES YES!! Thank you! Crispy old stinky Phish… just what I want

A really nice idea for release…I second the call for a complete box set - perhaps they could make this limited edition/download only…

This just made my day. What a great choice for a release, and I love that picture of Page and Trey!!

Clear recording of pre-90s shows are always welcome!

I wonder why no email about this…?

Thats what most people our age think during their introductory years to phish. Wait a while until you hear more shows, then you’ll start to love early phish.
I am still trying to get “into” early phish. I worked my way backwards. At first I didn’t like 93!! How is that possible???
Now I LOVE 93 and listen to a lot of 90-92 shows, and I really like them. Don’t try to compare eras, just enjoy them for what they are!
