Conan

Nice…

It was ok, I think he was real nervous! I am pumped for his new show and where it will go, he needs a bit of time to get comfy!!!

Pretty good first show.

Jack White was great. The opening montage was pretty funny too.

He’ll be hitting his stride in no time. Cable will be good for CoCo.

Saw the beginning and loved it!!! The MNF game got close there at the end so I switched it during the Seth Rogen interview, but all in all there is no doubt Conan will dominate basic cable!

I don’t have a TV… but glad Conan is back!

Watched the monolouge and most of Seth Rogan. Thought it was good. Nothing too earth-shattering. Alot like the tonight show and the late show, so no big changes. I like it.
However, I HATED the interview with Seth Rogan. More over, I hate Seth Rogan. I like him in movies, but he just seems like a douche in “real life”.
Should be a good show though. I’ll watch.

Eh…I saw some of it and maybe it’s me but Conan just isn’t what he was. No real fault of his own…just that mean old thing called maturation…it happens to all the good ones. I do wish folks would stop acting like he’s the victim though…he was given a million kajillion dollars to stop working. Must be nice…

But even with the money part, he wanted that job and it was, at one point, the pinnacle stop for all in the industry! And since you can count on one hand how many ‘hosts’ there have been, it was must have been a really great honor to host…

NBC screwed him and while he got paid, I have an odd feeling he would tell you, that hosting that spot was just as important to him. I mean he had millions before that sopt opened for him.

Didn’t get a chance last night due to going to sleep early, but tonight I am hoping to catch it tonight. Hopefully he maintains his good reputation of having great music on his show fairly often.

 Excellent show. Glad to see him back in action. Some parts of the show were a little weak, but it doesn’t matter! He’s back. I took him for granted before, it never occured to me that I might never get to see him again. Every show’s a bonus.

Hey, why’s this thread called Conan? :eh:

SOO happy to have Conan back. Bravo!

Sharon Jones us the musical guest on Monday

Because that is the name of the show?

I think Conan’s been getting worse and worse over the last decade. He’s still one of the funnier guys on TV, but really I just can’t stand the whole talkshow format anymore. I mean Conan just has to carry almost every guest through every interview and he’s just not edgy with his comedy the way he used to be. I think Conan should have been working on a movie or a sitcom or something outside of his comfort zone over the last year. It’s sad that he’s had all this time to come up with something new and he ended up falling back on the same old thing. We’ll see how his new show turns out, but I’m not holding my breath.

I think he was trying to draw a parallel between Phish’s breakup and Conan’s forced hiatus

I was making a funny and perhaps it was not too good. :shh:

God, I’m not sure I can think of any way a Conan movie would work but I’d go see it. I’d cry if he did a sitcom. So much of his schtick is just him being his goofy-ass self in the moment.

^ You’ve gotta remember that Conan basically started his real career as a writer and was just a writer for years…so I don’t know why a Conan sitcom wouldn’t be hilarious.

Eh, I’ve heard that before but I really think the Tonight Show is only something that those “in the industry” think is greater than the others. Just LOOKING at the show, is it any different than the other late night shows? It’s not…it’s just been around longer than all the others. It’s strange that both Conan and Letterman really wanted to host the Tonight Show, both were somewhat “screwed” out of the job and both are very likely much better off that they didn’t get the job. Letterman became the face of CBS and now Conan will likely be the same for TBS. Meanwhile at NBC both were second-fiddle to Leno who is the face of NBC.

And to be fair, he wasn’t “screwed” out of it…his ratings were pretty terrible at the Tonight Show. It’s more of just poor NBC management for trying to push out Leno and then being wishy-washy and trying to have both on at the same time. From everything I hear, NBC management is a disaster and has been for a while.
