Many of my thoughts echo those above. I wanted to hit on something Moma said, in that my girlfriend has been having anxiety attacks recently, which we have attributed to managing a shitty gas station with shitty employees who dick her over, and the company as a whole is run by a bunch of closed-minded men. She had gone to the ER one day (her day off), and when she returned, one of the questions that her boss asked her about was if she was pregnant. Not really in a joking manner mind you, though he is not the most serious or organized boss. This guy usually tries to ‘help her out’ by bringing her employees from other stores who are absolute delinquents, or tries to ship her good employees elsewhere. …sorry [/end rant] My point of this was that their first thought was pregnancy as she is mid-20’s, not the fact that their actions might be hurting her well-being.
I can understand what you’re getting at, and I don’t completely disagree, but I’m not sure you can call someone irresponsible just because they had 2 or 3 more kids than you.
I’m not against abortion at all but I understand those who are. What I don’t get is how none of these women seem to realize that adoption is a VERY viable option. It seems like there are so many gals who get knocked up and who are against abortion so they decide to keep the kid and adoption never even enters their mind. We REALLY need to push the option of adoption into our public schools. There are SO MANY people on the waiting list for children who could give these kids a much better life than some 16-year-old in high school could yet these gals never get it. Maybe I’m kind of callous but I get SO pissed when I see some girl who’s 17 or so in the store who’s leading around some 2-year old. Just ridiculous.
Still, over all, it amazes me how anyone can POSSIBLY get someone pregnant on accident. Guys, don’t EVER trust birth control…use a frickin helmet (not to mention the disease thing). Heck, they even have male birth control these days. Use all three, for God’s sake!!!
Stevo

and just because this one also popped up in my google image search

Greg…what doesn’t make sense to me about your post is that you were someones child. You are basically saying that you don’t deserve to be alive, so if you feel that other people don’t deserve to get to live (and this goes for any pro-abortion person), you should start with eliminating yourself from this world, if you really feel that overpopulation is a problem.
BTW…we have more than enough resources to have everyone in the world well nourished and educated. The problem is that people in North America/Europe consume way way more than they need and waste basically everything else that they don’t need. If we increased our Cereal production in North America by 3%, we would have enough food to to make sure there is no one in the world who is malnourished. 3%! So don’t give me this, we are running out of space/resources. Canada has the 2nd largest land mass in the world and 80% of our population lives within 150 miles of the American border. Space and resources are not a problem, greed is the real problem plaguing our world and Abortion is merely a symptom of this greed. Instead of wasting less and consuming less, we find it necessary to kill children intead.
LOL!! ^^ to both pics.
And no Greg, I don’t think that a woman who has 2 more kids than me is irresponsible b/c she’s got those kids, I think she’s irresponsible b/c she doesn’t refer to parenting her children as that, she refers to it as “dealing” with them… and how I’ve got it so much easier. If there’s that much resentment over being a mother to children that you VOULUNTARILY brought ito this world… that is irresponsible.
It’s not a crime to say you don’t want kids. It should be a crime, however, how our society puts pressure on young women to “listen you their clocks” and have babies…like it’s some right of passage. I just want to scream " You’re not cool b/c you have kids… you’re not special b/c you have no time to yourself… you decided to make yourself a martyr for your children… nobody else did that for you."
Would it really be so bad if less of us decided to have kids? Not everyone is cut out to be a parent… and that’s not a bad thing!
El BAstarde… I’m also gald you brought up the point about adoption. We’ve all heard my personal brush with that before…but I just have to say it IS a viable option… and a great one.
I wasn’t saying I don’t deserve to be alive. I’m saying that I’m the second of two kids my parents had. And that’s enough. And if my parents had decided after having my sister that they couldn’t afford/handle another kid, I’d have been fine with being an abortion.
I’m glad my mom put me up for adoption. Living is pretty cool.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Um, I’d rather not…
…although I do have a question:
We all know that there are some hardcore trains of thought when it comes to abortion. That every life is sacred and precious no matter what. I get that.
But what if someone who believed that was violently raped and subsequently impregnated? Would they then still keep the baby?
Hey, if I’m going to post a sick thought like that, at least its in the right thread.
If rape is enevitable, sit back and enjoy it.
Also, I don’t think people understood that that wasn’t actually my “quote.”
Bobby Knight said it first.
All the various forms of deities people worship, this god and that god and those gods and that tree…etc…
I find it rather diluted and presumptuous that every one of the devout out there believes that their god is endowed with human attributes, like a conscience, or one step further, self awareness. I know what the Christians will say, “We were created in His image.” Bullshit. If the Christ-god created mankind in its image then god must be a grandiose overweight bipolar maniac.
I believe that IF there is a higher power that that power is beyond human understanding, and if this singular omnipotent being exists I don’t believe this being could possibly have “awareness of self” as we, humans, know it. And if this higher order intelligence is not self-aware than how could anything in our lives be in anyones control other than ourselves?
edit: This power most likely has no concept of Time as we know it either.
Now put that in your chillum and have your friend light it!

I’ve actually thought about that scenario before… since I’m so repulsed by the idea of abortion, it’s a set of circumstances that pro-choicers like to throw at me a lot so I’ve come to expect it from their arsenal.
I think it really has a lot to do with the person and their ability to detach the obvious heinous nature of the offense from the innocent life that was spawned during it. That woman will probably always remember being raped and violated, whether or not she carries the child… and while it is definitely the most undesirable way to reproduce, the baby is not at fault. I can understand not wanting to live day in day out with a looming reminder of being raped, but 9 months of your life isn’t much to give up so that someone else can live… and people want to adopt healthy babies all the time. You have a beautiful opportunity to usurp a miracle out of tragedy… I say do it, but that’s just me.
Abortion is really one of those topics where there is no right answers…it’s all about what you can personally live with, I think.
I totally forgot about this thread…but man, i like it.
Not to toot my own horn but I’m glad I made it
