Controversial Topics

Okay, I got the space thing covered. This is all theoretical but it

I don’t want to get too mch into the sex thing but isn’t 30-40 % better than 0.

I mean with that attitude, nobody would go up to bat at baseball (where a .30 is considered excellent) yet it sure is better than sitting in the dugout not playing.

Okay. I’ll stick it with a tripple whammy!

My favourite controversy: Isn’t it time we did away with religion and ideas of God - there is zero evidence for this yet it is causing so much misery in the world.

discuss

Agreed. I don’t think we need to do away with any ideas, be they of god or anything. Ideas are what make this world great and us as people unique. But Religion has go to go. It is the same as brainwashing pretty much. People should come up with their own ideas about god and existence if they really want to be happy…not that happiness is everything.

i believe in god, so kill me you witch hunters!

Well considering I’m batting .1000 when I take matters into my own hands, so to speak, at an exponentially faster rate and with better feeling… 30-40% seems pretty derisive in comparison.

don’t you think?

Yeah, after that post i was thinking about all the times I score a home run just at practice - I’m Waaaaaay over 100%

I’ll chime in on this religion topic, since I have a minor in it. Religion in essence doesn’t answer the question “how?” nor does it really answer the question “why?”. What it does provide for the (majority of practicers) is a peace of mind and settles their unrest about the universe. I’m sure many of you will be quick to point to fundamentalists who can’t look past their faith’s dogma and begin to slaughter in the name of their God. Ghandi spoke the truth when he said “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians.” What he was implying here is that what people try to follow and what they practice are two very different ideas.

The next question is what causes the practice to be different than what they are following. The answer: human error, nurture, nature, take your pick.

It’s almost Pascal’s Wager: isn’t it smarter to believe in God and be wrong then not to believe at all? What do you have to lose by believing?

A good response.

re Pascal’s wager: i don’t really believe I have a choice in what i believe. I could say I was a Christian or whatever but ultimately it would be a lie. Sometimes I want to have faith - especially when it comes to the whole life after death thing, but when I look at the world around me, and that includes the whole universe which is unimaginably big, I deep down feel that there is no God. You don’t choose a faith - it chooses you.

Going for a triple again - maybe. here’s 2.

I think one of the problems with all religions fundamentally is that they try to answer 3 completely separate questions.

  1. What created the universe adn anything within it?
  2. Is there some divine power exerted a force on myself and the world in which Ilive.
  3. What happens to me after I die?

Every time you try to answer 3 different questions with only 1 answer - you are naturally going to run into trouble.

Yes! A triple whammy. Just had to add this which makes two triples for one thread.

Had to say that I didn’t mean to cause offense to any religious folk and I certainly don’t want to burn any Christians - it was just one of my favourite controversial topics.

As an atheist I do not have 100% faith that I am right, that there is no god - far from it, I may well be wrong. It just happens to be what I am most certain of out of the options. Whenever I am told I’ll go to hell for my lack of faith I kind of have to cry foul - If there is after all a God - then He made me an atheist, maybe it’s part of His plan, maybe I am here to challenge the faith in others. we’ll all find out soon enough I guess.

Get a new lover sweetheart, if a man and a woman have sex 10 times they both should cum 10 times, of course. JEEZ. What the hell is goin on out there in the world anyway…why have sex if yur not BOTH gonna cum? waste of time.

No, no, no, it was a hypothetical statement, not one that was meant to highlight anything that’s personally going on with me.

But to address your rubuttal:

a) Yes, in a perfect world when a man and a woman have sex they both get off everytime, but this is not a perfect world. I’ve had some pretty ardent lovers in the past, and let me tell you, some nights it just wasn’t happening, and it wasn’t because of them. A womans’ mindset can have a tremendous amount to do with whether or not she’s going to achieve orgasm…this trumps the skill of her lover any day, hands down. I can, however tell you this… I"ve NEVER once told my hand it’s not gonna work tonight or that I have a headache.

All I’m saying is that in my opinion, men have less barriers when it comes to enjoying sex to it’s fullest capasity. They don’t over analyze, they don’t factor in whether or not we said something insensitive, hell half the time we don’t even have to be awake for y’all to call fair game. It’s instinctual for you. Woman are hardwired to make it much more complicated, therefore making her orgasam more elusive. It’s not something most of us can help, but I don’t know of any woman that didn’t masturbate b/c her hand forgot to load the dishwasher and she was preturbed at it.

^^^ Yes. As Billy Crystal once said: Women need a reason to have sex - Men just need a place.

If your both feeling the love, orgasms unbound… and by love I mean HOT LUST, you bastard.

As far as space, philisophically speaking I have come across 2 views. One being space as something that was created and abiding, expanding and moving… here we have the concept of a creator creating something. The other is of space being empty from time without beginning, with no limitations that can be placed upon it by concepts. Concepts such as big or small, shape, color, beginning or end. Space is naturally free from any limiting concepts, no center… and while being free of concepts it is not void, everything and anything can arise within space but are never separate from its inherent emptiness… so in a way we are space.

This is more of a eastern philosophical view and I apologize for any misunderstanding and errors on my part…

Some women just never come no matter how good their lover is and how comfortable/horny they are. My first girlfriend I could hardly keep from coming before me literally every time we had sex. My last girlfriend I could not get off no matter how much time or effort I put into it. And neither could she when she tried alone. Female orgasms are an odd thing and there’s still sooo much more research that needs to be done.

greg, i think you’re just the man for the job.
