That’s right folks, Clapton/Baker/Bruce. I caught their reunion stuff on PBS last night. They can still tear it up!
My dad was way into Cream back in the day and so I have this marvelous live album of their’s on vinyl. It’s been played to hell but all the scratches and warps make it sound even more bad ass and raw.
Clapton is the most boring guitarist ever…the rest of cream is alright I guess, but Clapton bores the hell out of me.
I also watched that Cream last night on PBS. I must admit, Clapton absolutely tore it up. Nothing like I have heard him play in a LONG while… before the '90s for sure. I saw this DVD in the store before and thought I would dislike it… Why would I want to see the newest show? I would rather see the concerts from the '60s. Well I have to admit this show really surprised me, great stuff!
I had tickets to the Thursday reunion show in England but ended up not going…
…? why…?
yes, to quote spooksgroove: …? why…?
Cream is one of my favorite bands ever. I also like Blind Faith and Ginger Baker’s Air Force.
Jack Bruce = the shit
Jack Bruce made me realise what could be done on the bass.
All three of those guys were the best.
There is a reason they called themselves CREAM!
Back to marley, why did you not go?
I was really sick and thought I had mono, but my wife, her sister and a buddy of mine went.
Clarification:
All three went to London, but my sister-in-law and my buddy ended up going to the show. The seats were in the theatre section right behind the Jack Bruce. I’m going to have to see the DVD and see if I can spot them.
I didn’t end up having mono but I was out of commission for a long time. I was sleeping 12 hours a day and had a sore throat. This went on from April to June.
I watched the PBS special and ended up getting the DVD the next day. Man they can still tear it UP!
Watching Ginger do “Pressed Rat & Warthog” is worth it alone for me! Well,TOAD also.
Jack Bruce is STILL the man…I have his first solo album, SONGS FOR A TAILOR. It’s fvcking brilliant.
The second Tony Williams Lifetime record (“turn it up”, I believe) with Jack Bruce is hot.
The actual name of the band is The Cream.
every time i see the name of this thread i click on it and become dissapinted when i see it’s a band named cream. not sure what i’m looking for, but something with “cream” is probably interesting…
I was really hoping at first that someone had the good sense to start a thread about the Prince song “Cream” and how closely it really resembles “Get It On (Bang A Gong)” by T-REX. Give them a listen.
I like Cream. I heard this joke on some classic rock station years ago, and I thought I’d share.
How are coffee and Ginger Baker the same?
They both suck without cream.
And I don’t like coffee no matter what is put in it.
Clapton is the most boring guitarist ever…the rest of cream is alright I guess, but Clapton bores the hell out of me.
I’d say Jerry Garcia is more boring.
I’m down with Cream, Disraeli Gears is one of my favorite albums, haven’t got a chance to check out the reunion yet though
