Create your own setlist! Vers. 2

They opened the second set of the (I think) second Amsterdam show from 97.

Actually, that entire second set is one big segue. No break in Caspian and Suzy.

And it is 2/17/97, a great show.

ok, here’s how halloween is REALLY gonna go.

**Paul Simon cover

CONGRAGULATIONS! you have created the best setlist i have ever seen! Great costume!
quick question though, is the dogs the part were “who was told what to do by the man” or the “gotta admit that im alittle bit confused” part

i am liking the oh kee pah>YEM Jeff. Whyweigh, even though Trey made the comment about how he didnt want to play YEM the rest of his life he still will play it if they come back. Too many phans will want it for them not to play it.

^yeah ur right

That would definitely be a sweet halloween show. Even though I’ve never heard that album, or much of paul simon.

Actually, greg is referring to the second set of Europe shows from 1997. They played a two night stint in Amsterdam in July as well as the one night jamfest that is 2/17. These are the back of the worm shows, and the second set of the second night did indeed start with an anonymous Jam. I still like 2/17 better then 7/1 and 7/2 though!

gotta admit.

thanks. i tried to make the greatest 4 night run in history.

oh, post-hiatus guy, go buy that album and graceland by paul simon ASAP.

Show Notes
*Band plays the introductory section, but then they get to the reggae part, they jam it until they head into Makisupa. ** With loops used to make a dub-ish jam. ***Sung over Maze jam before Ha Ha Ha interrupts the second part of the song. ****With “Never get out of this maze” giving way to “maybe so and maybe not” as band members overlap the two lyrics until they’re inside Stash to close it out. #Out of vocal jam from YEM; like album version. ## Starts out as a 94/95 style digital delay loop jam. ###Afterwards Trey jokes that the audience chant was loud enough tonight so they finally played it; no audience chant was initiated this night, so he was being sarcastic.

^well thought out

^^ greg that that show is awesome, the alcohol ideas served you well.

  • Trey comments on his choice of “Gumbo” in attempting to keep with the theme of song selections up to that point.
    ** Fishman vacuum solo
*** Trey uses a voicebox, megaphone, and other props when singing the ‘evil’ part near the end
**** This version clocks in at 23 minutes and contains teases of “Simple” and a full-on “Tweezer” jam in the chill section. Very atypical version.

^nice! Best. Double. Encore. Ever.

^agreeed

Crap, this is harder than I thought. These are two setlists guaranteed to start flame wars on PT and other Phish boards if they were actually played (Where’s the funk? Boring! Too many typical, overplayed songs! All the openers and closers are standard!). I come to Phish via prog rock, so I love structure, tight playing and no noodly 41 minute jams (sorry, I just finished listening to the Fleezer and found it boring as hell). So my setlist doesn’t have:

20 minute funk jams with that fucking annoying Rave Whine guitar loop sound
covers (1 exception)
15 song seque-fests (or songs broken up in to three parts)
no songs that haven’t been played in 987 shows
Destiny Unbound

It’s basically what I want to do one day: construct my ultimate festival out of my favorite Phish songs, in tight, well played versions, on to CD.

A two-day festival, somewhere in the US where there is, on average, .00001 inches of rain in mid-August.

Day 1:

I: Runaway Jim>Foam, A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing, Col. Forbins Ascent>Fly Famous Mockingbird*, Axilla II, Stash, The Horse>Silent in the Morning, Crowd Control, Halley

nice first festival. my favortire day would be the first. the second set is sikk! good divided sky to close the festival as well.
