If I had to choose one performance from the White Album night that I really didn’t like, and I tend to skip over when I get to it, it is the Happiness is a Warm Gun. I just don’t think that Trey’s voice does it any kind of justice at all. I know Phish don’t claim to be great singers like the Beatles, but I do think they unintentionally butchered that song beyond belief.
yeah, you know, i really couldn’t agree more with you.
whenever i played that set for non-phish fans, the consensus was pretty much that it was a great idea and musically pretty well done but that the vocals don’t do the album justice… because come on… its the beatles were dealing with here.
i just love that song and think its very tongue-in-cheek, which fits trey well. and it would be a pretty big bustout with some rehearsal…
