Interesting…
Meatheads have nothing to do past high school besides become cops?
I don’t get it
why’d that cop want to take him out? there must’ve been a reason, but unless its murder or robbery or something, that was a tad harsh.
I’ll bet the punk was just riding on the side of the road and getting in the way of the cars when there was a perfectly useable sidewalk just to his right. Damn bikers think they’re Lance Frickin Armstrong and HAVE to ride on the damn road. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to beat the crap out of one of those dudes because I want to every time I see one.
Stevo
Share the road maaaaaaaaaan.
I don’t know about the areas you all live, but here (NE Ohio) bikes are SUPPOSED to be on the road.
Sure, it sucks going around them, but there is a lot worse in the world to be bothered by them.
Yeah, bikeriding on a sidewalk doesn’t make much sense to me.
Sometimes I’ll run in the road and if I encounter a bike rider (aren’t they supposed to be riding WITH traffic?) I’ll gladly move onto the sidewalk.
Gamecat’s original post said the kid got charged with assault. Perhaps the biker threw something at someone or spit on someone or something off camera, and then the cop leveled him for it. Otherwise, way out of line.
Dude, did you even watch the video?
You obviously have no idea what your talking about.
About this or about anything concerning the rules of the road.
I’ll just leave it at that.
No, he was charged with assault AGAINST the cop.
There are numerous witnesses who said the biker did nothing different then the hundreds of other bikers in Times Square that night.
Including those who were watching from the sidewalk not involved with Critical Mass.
Well then, way out of line.
Actually I didn’t…i just wanted to rant about annoying bikers. I don’t get why bikers can’t just be on the sidewalk. There’s FAR less people on the sidewalk than cars on the road and it’s REALLY not that hard to ride your bike on the grass to avoid them. I road a bike on the sidewalk of the crammed MSU campus for years and was just fine. No reason these Lance Armstrong wannabes can’t do it too. If there’s no sidewalk then I understand but get out of the way of traffic…there’s enough on the road to slow down traffic as it is.
Stevo
uh… sidewalks in NYC have far less people on them than the roads do cars?
sorry Stevo but i’d rather have the bikers on the road with other vehicles risking their own safety than cruising down a packed sidewalk potentially huring innocent pedestrians… and since theres already enough on the road to slow down traffic as it is, do the bikes make much of a difference?
Almost all cities have ordinances which give tickets to bikers who ride on the sidewalk. Generally the rule is wheels = street. Obviously kids can be on the sidewalk since they aren’t aware enough to be in the street, but biking on the sidewalk is pretty obtrusive if you are trying to walk.
The guy was obviously not doing anything wrong from the angle of the cameraman. The cop is completely at fault here, but what if, before the cyclist rode into frame he just stole some ladies purse or punched an old man in the face? Maybe he did something to deserve that kind of response…all you are getting from this video is the camera’s angle and there might be more to it than that.
