parts of this video are painful to watch but i go back and forth between cracking up at how trey is acting and feeling embarrassed for him

This video always makes me cringe. I always thought it was kinda cool that Dave knows the lyrics to Bathtub Gin though.

i find this hilarious. trey and dave know this isnt a serious, serious performance. and treys too fucked up to care anyway. its just funny. it reminds me of me and my friends.

Dave Matthews Band is lame, but Carter Beauford is the shit. Anyway only solo member of Phish I’ve seen live is Mike I saw him in Richmond, Virginia last summer as well as All Good, and he was by far the best act there. But I am not too keen on the jam scene. Most of it is generic and sounds the same, but I guess that could be said for any genre. All I know is Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood, Mike Gordon, and Lettuce all kicked ass.

^yeah, “jam bands” aren’t my thing and I don’t think those 3 artists you mentioned above are in that title, they are just GREAT MUSIC.

I DO like Dave and friends as well as the band. I think it has to do with my first and only Grateful Dead show where Dave was opening up, sentimental value if you know what I mean.

Secondly, why does the video make everyone cringe? I see two friends having a good time.

Haha, yeah, Trey is a little on the ‘extra’ animated side, but whatever. And I actually thought it was cool to see them playing two acoustics together like that; I just wish Trey would’ve ripped into some tasty guitar solo during the first tune.

And yeah… while I was disappointed with the direction DMB went after the success of “Under the Table,” you can’t deny that Dave Matthews is a damned good guitarist and singer in his own right. And Beatles is spot-on up there: Carter Beauford is a GOD behind the kit.

That is crazy how Dave’s crowd can collectively sing and clap the rhythm to the song like that without him doing anything. You can tell Trey gets a huge kick out of that.

it’s a cool acoustic version of bathtub gin, if nothing else!
