DEAD THREAD!

^hide the snake?

Yep, I was there. I can barely remember the chronology of that summer but I saw some dead, saw some phish.

B, 91 was my first time on the lot as well… and “I had never seen anything like what i saw in that lot. I was forever changed from that day.” Ditto…

'91 was my first year, too at Deer Creek. I think it was the first year the Dead palyed there. I was just a wee sprog.

B were you here too?

2: Victim> Eyes> Samson> He’s Gone> Drumz> Way To Go> SOTM> Lovelight E: Brokedown

Ya know I’m terrible… I can hardly remember this show. I remember the BT wind and Samson and thats about it! DOH’! I always thought I never heard an eyes and here it is! Double DOH’!

I think I remember the So Many Roads… Jerry was prime Jerry at the end of that song.

2: China Cat> I Know You Rider, Samba, Truckin> New Speedway> Drumz> Watchtower> SOTM> Sugar Magnolia E: Lucy In The Sky

This here was probably my most favorite show attended… or atleast memorable… if only for the Truckin> New Speedway> Drumz> Watchtower> SOTM… oh yeah baby gimmie sum more. And the Lucy in the Sky encore.

Here’s a good Dead site: http://www.deadbase.com/homebase.html

Yup. I saw Shoreline then RFK thru the Palace!

RFK was fun but things didn’t get cookin until that Shakedown at the Creek! The only show i saw on Spring tour 95 was Tampa! I was bummed i was not in Philly for the Unbroken Chain bustout but happy to get one in Tampa. The Visions of Johanna was a nice treat as well!

I am interested in seeing who saw the earliest GD show.

[looks in fone’s general direction]

and now that Vern is gone, his don’t count! ;D

I know fone did see the Dead in the 70s at some point and I think he saw them twice. Fone?

I didn’t see the philly unbroken bust-out but that was kinda ominous do ya think? Bringing out the song and ending that same year. Meh, maybe not. I did see an unbroken at Giants stadium that summer. Jerry decided to hang back in the shadows and smoke a J or something during the jam so it wasn’t very memorable.

^It’s the thought that counts!

This Shakedown was awesome and really set the tone for my favorite east of the Mississippi run of that summer! Shoreline ruled way to much to let DC surpass it but it was close!

I had a friend who liver in SF for 9 years just for the Dead. He enjoyed himself… did all that weird SF stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

What is the must have best ever show for a collection?

That is very subjective but 5-8-77 has been the show iv’e heard most fans say is thee best. It’s hard to argue as it is about as perfect a show gets. Personally after all this time i have to say MY favorite is 6-28-74. 73 and 74 are my favorite years and this is my favorite show from those 24 months.

^^ the one where Jerry sings and plays his heart out.

The Dead had so many textures and flavors thruout their career that if you just focused on one era you’d miss all that goodness from other years. But if one were to start with something I’d say pick up “One from the Vault” which is some stellar Dead. On par with Phish’s Hampton Comes Alive me thinks.

^ i did not mean to mislead anyone. Yes, seek out all era’s of this band and you will not be dissapointed and actually quite entertained to hear the way the sound changed thru the year’s(deceased keymen). All i was saying was after all the years of listening to the differn’t era’s i have come to realize 73-74 is my fav.

Now, 3rd day at the Creek 94. This show had alot of surprises. First was the second Jack a Roe in 3 days and at the same venue no less. The boys started doing some off the cuff song placement earlier that month at shoreline. With a Music OPENER and an EYES->FIRE. With these unusual occurances happening i told my brother at shoreline that we were gonna get a Help-Slip-Franklins that led into drums this summer and we did. That was great!

Do not get me wrong, I have MANY great Dead shows, I was just looking through some wondering, what should I FOR SURLY have?..

Those above^^ Are mine, today, I hope to find them!

Shit I’m sure you guys have much more music than I have… seeing that I have like none… or very little anyway. I lost my collection years ago.

However I do get a Dead fix every Sat night on the local radio station where a friend does a Dead hour… or two. On the way home tonight I heard an excerpt from a 74 show… can’t remember the date but it had a great Playin’… atleast 25 min.

B thats crazy you called the help-slip-franklin>drums… I don’t think I ever called a thing… caught a few things like colds and bad habits but couldn’t call a show to save my life.

You know what I never saw live… TERRAPIN. ugh.

Bad habits, no one in here has any…

I really like the 60’s acoustic Dead that was loose and jammed out. “Don’t ease, don’t ease”

and bigb…

I didn’t know you had a record deal…

I can’t really talk about it but i’m in a serius copyright infringement case with my brother Barry!
