and I really am tired of people covering “Come Together.” ugh that song bores me to death.
Cool message and all with Bobby and Phil, hippies and democrats “coming together,” but…ugh
where can i download this?
On the internet, I think.
thanks for clearin that up, weisenheimer :
I think the reason they played it last night was that John Lennon wrote that song as a campaign song for Timothy Leary when he was running for Governor of California. It seemed like a fitting cover to me.
I got to see the end of the first set and all of the acoustic set last night and it seemed like a really tight performance considering how long its been. I could not believe what I witnessed in that setbreak though. I’ve never before heard of a Dead show turning into a political rally. It didn’t take away from the music for me at all, but if I were there, I just don’t know what I’d be thinking. I’ll hopefully take another stab at watching the replay tonight.
I kinda like Come Together, if only for the sweet lines. When you think about it, the song isn’t really about “coming together” at all and is yet another John Lennon gibberish song (which are sometimes his best songs).
Plus it’s one of the VERY few Beatles song where I think the cover (Aerosmith) is better than the original. A rare occurance indeed, especially since I usually can’t stand Beatles covers.
Stevo
setlist looks pretty rad to me and i barely like the dead.
what in the hells the matter with you, hank?! GOD-UH!
is this opening set 1 and closing set 2 with playin in the band a common thing? cuz that seems pretty seck to me. then iagain i dont know anyhting about the dead…maybe that sucks.
Kang-firmed.
Bobby has been doing that a lot and not just with Playin In The Band. I’ve seen him do that with Terrapin Station and Cassidy.
you want to know what i’m really tired of, hank?
i’m really tired of you hating the Beatles and the idea of people coming together so much.
i mean really, man. Its 2005. What kind of asshole can hate the Beatles at this point?
Flux capacitor…fluxxing.
sugaree was maybe the song i was least looking forward to in that last set…but it was damn good
This was up on etree when I was at home this morning, but when I went to get a link it seems to have disappeared. Can anyone confirm that this was pulled, or is this just a disappearing/reappearing seed?
edit: nevermind, here it is http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=512946
Wow, really? That song always does it for me…not sure why…
Stevo
I really like “Sugaree,” too.
That and “Peggy-O.”
nothing against Sugaree. my girl was surprised when i made that comment too…i do love the song. i just meant looking at the setlist, with respect to Chinacat, Eyes, The Other One, Throwing Stones (appropriate for the setting)…well i guess i forgot how much i liked it too. i didn’t expect it to stand out is all.
and thanks for the bt link Shwahhtz
Sugaree and Peggy-O are AMAZING…
… when Jerry sings.
