Dear President Obama:

I’m not sure how this fits into the whole equation but for some reason I was compelled to post it…

How do you know your life is on the verge of decadence?
Certainly when the force of form becomes more important then the force of substance. When etiquette and morals become more important than understanding and righteousness. When procedure becomes more important than creativity. When gratifying your lust becomes more important then giving to others. When patriotism becomes more important than measured governing and enlightened treatment of others nations. When the act of eating becomes more important than the considerations of nutrition. When the opera becomes more important than helping the poor and homeless. When one’s own comfort becomes more important than the suffering of loved ones. When ambition becomes more important than benevolence. When prestige becomes more important than charity. When the academy becomes more important than the streets. When loud expression becomes more important than listening to others. When outrageousness becomes more important then communication. When connoisseurship becomes more important than simple acts. When style becomes more important than function. When books become more important than teachers When expediency becomes more important than the elderly.
When you smell these things happening, you are not far from decadence.

Bah, I love how people over-dramatize who is President and what Congress is doing. Like the guy who is president is REALLY going to matter in the end (well, as long as he doesn’t start wars for no reason, of course). Oh, we’re all SO fucked with Obama…it’s like people want government to be SO much more exciting than it really is when it’s generally a bunch of old folks touting themselves as important and passing bills where only 50% of them at best will have any real impact or even be enforced and 75% of them are just doing favors for their rich friends. I think that’s what these “Infowars” folks are about too…they want the government to be exciting and secretive like it’s out of the X-Files so they can position themselves to be the equally exciting “Revolution” against this evil, secretive government when frankly it’s just a bunch of arrogant old dudes postering on television. It’s all just a game of people trying to turn real life into an exciting cartoon or conspiracy movie.

Take it easy folks…things aren’t going to change much under Obama, just as they haven’t changed in the last 25 years. The bad economy is the result of market conditions, internet business affecting the market landscape, and possibly the end of the credit spending era in America, none of which had much to do with government at all. It’ll fix itself and government will have nothing to do with that either. As always, the government wants people to believe that it’s FAR more important than it really is and this kind of talk just gives them what they want.

Stevo

P.S. OH NO!! I’ve fallen into their trap!! The grand conspiracy has me fooled!!

haha! nice… yeah there are always ups and downs… so many ways to look at this…

hm.

i’m sonted so forgive whatever comes next.

i think it’s really interesting seeing people’s different views and reactions to everything so far. i can always find places where i’m in agreeance to some degree or another, and also places i see something different.

fear mongering can and does happen from all angles. people are afraid. on some level we’re all afraid for one reason or another. why though? this is ultimately in our hands. we hold all the power in the end. lies have shelf lives and those lies that have effected all us from day one are coming to the forefront. why? because we have changed our minds about it. we are finally tired of lies. we are demanding truth and change, and we will not stop short of it. the time is now and there’s no stopping the momentum of it regardless of what is happening currently in Washington. even if it’s simply the same ol status quo, like Stevo sees, that isn’t gonna fly anymore. there is a HUGE movement afoot to bring truth into government that grows by the millions every week. how are elite bankers and lawyers and politicians gonna stop that? the paradigm has shifted, they know it and this is the last of their trickery and oh you’re gonna see change.

basically, ^this.

^I’ll admit I doubt it but I’ll agree that some administrations may be about LESS lies and BS than others but it’ll never go away. And with corporate business and banks, their companies are grown and built and run on lies…that’ll never go away either, sadly.

Stevo

the first step of a cure is

A KISS!

I’m feelin’ Stevo’s and CJ’s posts above.

The anger and fear have gone way beyond hype at this point. I have already stated that I oppose Government intervention with the economy in this instance but in reality I don’t think it’s going to affect my life much differently than if they didn’t pass a stimulus bill.

They’re gonna shift a bunch of money around and some of it will be insane and some of it will make sense and some of it will cause problems and some of it won’t. Some people will get fucked and some people will luck out and some people will largely be unaffected. I think this outcome is more likely to happen, stimulus or not, as opposed to civil war or the imposition of a police state or other mass catstrophe.

What is happening is change. Change happens whether you want it to or not and all of the people in a position of power or wealth in America aren’t really interested in seeing change happen because they are happy where they’re at. This includes the President, despite his campaign slogans.

wow, try to bridle your optimism.

Yeah let’s cheer up.

Anyone for a rousing conversation about the inherent selfish greed of mankind and how love’s probably not real afterall?

;D

Let’s all forsake all hope and and kill some flowerbeds too. Who’s up for placing Mr. Yuck stickers over all the smiley faces we can find? Uh … who’s got any of those anymore?

Me, I haven’t bothered to replace my worn out socks since the end is probably near anyway.

^Sorry hippie. America is about slavery and war. We ain’t got time for your optimism. That’s not how you take care of business.

But … but I said we could stomp on flowers!!

Besides, the Mr. Yuk reference shoulda been worth somethin’.

Congressman Gary Ackerman’s anger erupts on Security Exchange Commission Members during hearings about the Bernie Madoff scandal. PRICELESS!!

"Right now the Washington economic stimulus team is putting on their Scuba gear and diving down to the engine room to try to invent a way to get a diesel engine to run on seawater. They spoke of change, but in reality they are terrified of change and want to cling with all their might to the status quo. But this game will soon be over, and they don
