Deer Creek 2000

Lots of people enjoy the “Moby Dick” show. Some people think it’s overrated. Some will say the 7-10 show is the best of the run. Still others prefer the 7-12 for the “Curtain (With)” bust out.

What’s everyones opinions on this run?

Uhh…
Never really dug this run, as a whole, but there are parts that I do like.
The Curtain With is obviously a humongous kickdown.
So big that many people had no idea what “With” was.
Personally, I don’t like the Moby Dick show, but do like the first set.
The first set is actually my favorite set of the run, but the hype and gimmicks surrounding the second set amaze me.
I throw that second set in with 11-27-98.
Straight gimmick.

Drowned jam was the best music of the run! It reminded me of the jam that led from Ghost to Katy in Phoenix 98. The 10th did nothing for me.
On the 11th i needed some gimmicky Phish. I think the most solid show was the 12th.

i had a really good time at this 3 night run. a bunch of us (roughly 20 in our caravan) all arrived a night early to begin the festivities. it was really a 3 night festival since everyone was camping on or near the venue. i only had a ticket for the first night but was able to trade a small amount of fungi for the second night and i think $20 for the third night. the first night is nothing special but was a very enjoyable opening night to a 3 night run. if i remember correctly the second set started with jibboo sand and twist (not sure on the order) which was too many newer songs in a row, IMO. second night was a blast. lost my mind during the moby dick madness. before the show we used to pick 5 songs and 1 rare song that we thought they would play that night. just to make it fun i guess. i remember calling ya mar, moma dance, DWD, runaway jim, birds, and HYHU as my rare. def in tune with the music that night as only birds was wrong (think they played it on the 12th). we partied pretty hard after this show. i think the band did too as they appeared to take a more laid back approach to the 12th. curtain with was such a big bustout. i didnt think they could dust off a bigger song than light up or leave me alone and corrina corrina (cypress) but they proved me wrong. only a few of us in our group knew what curtain with was. basically anyone in the crowd with a smile from ear to ear knew what was going down. the crosseyed was a nice treat as well.

I loved all three nights of this run.
I agree with booze about it being a mini-fest kinda.
The campgrounds were raging every night.

I thought 7-10 was a great start.
Buffalo Bill in the first set.

I still the hold the second set opener of Gotta Jibboo > Sand as one of the best 1-2 punch ever of those two songs.
That Sand is one of my favorites ever.
Nice Antelope encore if I remember as well.

7-11
What can I say. I had a great time at this show.
Me and my best friend were the only two of our crew that had tickets for this one and we had a blast.
Met 2 hotties from Michigan and partied with them, even into the campgrounds.
I loved the Moby Dick stuff. Great goofy Phish.
I believe Trey was out of his mind.
The whole “Russell Crowe” & “We are Phish from Vermont” stuff was great.
“Have fun at the campgrounds” just made everyone feel good I thought.
Very positive energy from the band and the kidz.
I really can’t complain about this show at all.

7-12
Great finish to the run.
As stated The Curtain With was very nice.
I kinda freaked on my friends when they played it.
They never heard it before and I got a little to excited.
A nice Tube.
Beauty of My Dreams was one of my favorites of the first set, personal fave.

Second set got the Crosseyed I waited all run for so I was happy.
Wading to send send us into the night just capped off a great run.

This 3 night run holds a special place in my heart.
Just had a wonderful time.
The close by campgrounds were rocking, no troubles as far as I remember, and I got lucky.
What else could I ask for?

A++ run in terms of fun.
B+, A- in terms of Phish playing IMO

Funny…My buddy Eric and I did Columbus > Wheel on the '98 Tour and met some beautiful babies at Deer Creek.
The tent was later shaking.

Gotta love those Midwest girls.
They grow’em good down on the farm.

^haha Deer Creek treated me well in that dept. in '04 as well!! booyah!!

I’ve only listened to the first and last nights once or twice each. Both solid shows, but nothing I really wanted to come back to. I think I liked 7.12 more, though, mainly cuz of Crosseyed and Curtain.

7.11 set 1=pure sickness. Easily my favorite set of the run. Moma, Yamar, Drowned are all spectacular.

although set 2 is gimmicky, I still think the 2001–>Disease is pretty damn cool, before all the moby dick stuff began.

I love the Moby Dick stuff!

On the video of this, the looks Trey gives when he brings it back into Moby Dick are priceless! You can tell they are just having some fun while stuck in the middle of Indiana.

[/noob rant]

I definitely love this run.

While the 7-10 show is my least favorite of the 3, it still contains some good stuff. The opening trio of the second set is pretty groovy (although most people who had been on tour probably didn’t think so).

I don’t consider the 1st set of 7-11 the best set of the run, but it’s still great! Especially the “Moma Dance” and “Drowned.” I agree with Hank, the “2001 > Disease” is awesome. Also, this “Hood” is one of my favorites.

And 7-12 is right up there with 7-11 with me…a great first set and possibly my favorite set of the run is the 2nd set (even though its pretty short).

Damn, I wish I had been into Phish just a tad more at the time so that I would have been inspired to catch all 3 nights instead of just one.

Pictures hippie Mama at hospital getting checked for gonorrhea

What about the three nights of '03? I believe I remember you saying you only saw one then too…

When oh when are you going to get into Phish???

^
Yeah, I’m such a turd. I couldn’t get off enough work time to make it to all three, so I had to decide beforehand which night to attend.

I figured the middle night 3 years before that treated me so well, I opted for 7-22.

Meh.

What I REALLY wish is that I had gone to Cincy '03. It was on a weekend my junior year of college. It would have only been about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Goddamnit!
