Disc Golf

Maybe this should go in the Meetups board, I dunno.

Anyone here into Disc Golf? There’s a course about an hour from me in Easton, MA [borderlanddiscgolf.com/]

Played it yesterday … pretty cool. Except that it’s really in the woods, so deer ticks and poison ivy are a consideration. I got home with neither ticks nor poison ivy though, so I guess it’s pretty okay.

Anyway, it’s a fun way to enjoy throwing frisbees around, and to enjoy nice weather and fresh air, and it’s cheap.

It’s pretty central for New England I’d guess, so it’d make for a great way to meet up IMO.

Doesn’t Will enjoy a game of Disc Golf?

Damn hippies.

You’ll be raving about Hacky Sack next.

Speaking of which, I’d love to get into Hacky Sack.

I looooooove it.

Actually… I just threw an Even yesterday on my “home” course… which is my best score all year. Haven’t been playing my best… I would say I am about a +5 average at the time being.

That’s a “handicap,” Willy.

You’re a 5 handicap.

i love disc golf too but i’ve only played once.

i’m never able to go play with my friend down here that plays regularly because something always gets in the way.

i wish i could play more. Its sweet. I get to play ultimate frisbee every Sunday evening though but that’s not as chill and certain assholes take it way too seriously.

This isn’t golf Neil.

Same principal more or less.

No dress code ;D

Nudey?

disc golf is awesome. ive been playing ultimate frisbee for 9 years [4 at the club level] so im very accurate in all of my throws on the disc golf course. i prefer using a regular 175g frisbee instead of all those fancy disc golf frisbees. in fact, i was never able to use a frisbee specific for disc golf all that well. a regular frisbee feels better in my hands. plus i can throw both a forehand and backhand about +70 yards as well as a +50 yard hammer if there is a tree in the way.

^

How often do you need to replace said Frisbee?

Because I know I like to replace my discs every 6 months or so…

Just asking because I always see a lot of Frisbees on the course that are shattered or really poorly warped/bent.

i only get out to the disc golf course 10 times a year, at most. most of my summer is consumed with traveling for leisure and ultimate frisbee tournaments. so, i would say 1 regular disc will last me the entire year. but that also depends on how many trees i hit and how hard i hit the basket (ha, is that even the correct term?).

Gotcha…

I try to get at least a round a day.

Speaking of which… I am off work now to go play.

::grabs DEET and runs::

thats awesome! i run a local syracuse ultimate frisbee league two nights a week. that combined with 2 practices a week for the club team leaves me with little free time for more frisbee. enjoy your round tonight!

I live to frolf

never gotten into it.

seems kinda meh and boring to me

i’m alright at ultimate frisbee and love to throw those bitches round but i dont play disc golf

Dude, don’t knock it till you try it. I friggin hate sports, honestly. Can’t stand it when the baseball games are on and I’m trying to play songs for the patrons.

But disc golf is just plain ol’ easy fun.

I also love to frolf. A round a day is good for me, plus I’m finally gettin back to my old form which deteriorated over the winter. Too bad it’s wet and windy today.
