just thought i’d ask
Yes, I do, and thank you for asking.
only if it’s in a young girl’s heart.
absolutely.
i experience magic all the time in my life, but it’s usually subtle and in seemingly ordinary ways. such as driving down a winding dirt road in the peak of fall, smoking a little and listening to whatever music that seems to be interacting with and reacting to my surroundings, and everything in the universe feels right in place. Phish is especially good for such moments.
ha ha, lots of threads that lead into lyrics lately
i’ll second goldenroad here
Yeah, and any young girl over 19, though…
Oh, and I also believe in “everyday magic”…
such as somebody providing me with a miracle
holds finger up in the air ^ and waits for magic to happen, common magic
Magic…ugh. Ok, I’ll bite.
Asking me if I believe in magic…is like…well, the thing is…ya see…
On second thought, I think I’ll spit out that bite.
i think magic is a feeling or a perception. ordinary life can definately be magical. yeah.
You are correct, sir!
I wit ICC on this one. Ego controlled magic is da bunk. But magic exists for sure. John Sebastian definitely knew. What a great song and great lyrics (except maybe of course for the word ‘groovy’):
Do you believe in magic in a young girl’s heart
How the music can free her, whenever it starts
And it’s magic, if the music is groovy
It makes you feel happy like an old-time movie
I’ll tell you about the magic, and it’ll free your soul
But it’s like trying to tell a stranger 'bout Phish*
If you believe in magic don’t bother to choose
If it’s jug band music or rhythm and blues
Just go and listen it’ll start with a smile
It won’t wipe off your face no matter how hard you try
Your feet start tapping and you can’t seem to find
How you got there, so just blow your mind
If you believe in magic, come along with me
We’ll dance until morning 'til there’s just you and me
And maybe, if the music is right
I’ll meet you tomorrow, sort of late at night
And we’ll go dancing, baby, then you’ll see
How the magic’s in the music and the music’s in me
Yeah, do you believe in magic
Yeah, believe in the magic of a young girl’s soul
Believe in the magic of rock and roll
Believe in the magic that can set you free
Ohh, talking 'bout magic
- Sorry, had to change ‘rock and roll’ to ‘Phish’ because it just seemed more appropriate for most of us.
^THAT’s who John Sebastian was.
i thought he was just some guy that sat in on Deja Vu and some other old school heady stuff.
oh man, well that’s good to know.
and what the hell is wrong with “groovy”?

when I was a kid, my best friend’s dad was a veterinarian. Anyways, every time magician David Copperfield would come to town, he would call my friends dad in to check out some of his animals. Copperfield uses a wide variety of animals in his act. ANyways, one time I was lucky enough to go to one of these shows with my friend, and we got backstage with my friends dad while he worked on some of the animals. I met Copperfield and all that., but the craziest thing I saw backstage was this half-chicken/half-duck thing walking around!! no shit, it’s whole front was brown chicken feathers and it had a chicken head with the beak and the clitoris chin and all, and from the middle back it’s whole ass-side was larger white duck feathers with a tail and it had the webbed duck feet! I was like WTF! -this is the weirdest thing ever!
Brady…get some Lovin’ Spoonful man. The Dead loved the Spoonful and I believe Jerry even said that they were the first rock n’ roll band that the Dead ever saw that appealed to them…or maybe just to him…I need to read that McNally book again.
I’d highly recommend Hums and Daydream if you’re interested, I’m sure you can find them super cheap on c.d. or vinyl.
clitoris chin!
Yes magic does in fact exist. PERIOD.
Go Bills!!
i’m sorry, but that answer is unacceptable.
