Donovan McNabb TRADED To Redskins

  • 11 draft picks in a good draft.

Kolb will be fine. Mark my words all you’d like. Kolb will do just fine. He’s a badass, whether you want to believe it or not.

^Bad ass? Now you might be overstating it a little, no? I think he might be ok, but that team was being built over the past 2 years around McNabb…

And YES^^ Favre is coming back, this we know.

Really? And this had NOTHING to do with that fact that he had virtually no run-support in all of those games and a head coaching staff who insists that this west-coast crap will eventually win it all for them? After losing game after game due to the offense knowing that you’re going to pass on pratically every down, would you think they MAYBE change things?..Nope. No way. Donovan looked bad in those games because at that point in the playoffs, he was playing a good defense and when a good defense knows exactly what you’re going to do, it’s easy to make your OB look bad. And there’s no way he “should have won” against any of those teams. Once you get that far, either team can win.

Yes you are. I would kill to have the success that the Eagles have had in the last decade. Appreciate what you have. I understand the reasons why they traded him now but that doesn’t mean that everything he did in the past was one long choke job. The dude was not a West-coast QB in a flawed west-coast system with a coach whose clock management at the end of games has killed them multiple times and he took it as far as it could go.

I’m NOT a fan of Favre but I agree with this. Who else are they going to get?

:lolno:

^BWAHAHAHAH!

Even worse, I heard an interview with him on Jim Rome just a few months ago and he’s STILL petitioning teams to give him a shot. The dude is nuts.

Last year prior to Favre signing with the Vikes, George came on the radio and did interviewing circle for the Vikes QB spot. He said, “Had I been the QB the past few years, we would have won a super bowl”…

Of course the play calling had somethign to do with it. But, people who don’t even watch football know the Eagles are goign to throw it, adn they were still able to get to all of the NFC Championship games. I say they are games they shoudl have won becuase they are games they were favored. And a couple of those games they were significant favorites.
But that doesn’t negate the fact that Dono still had accuracy issues, esp in big games.

As far as calling me an ungrateful fan, I disagree. I have supported #5 from day 1. I truly believed that each and every year he gave us the best chance to win, and I rooted for him to do so. Never have i said I did not appreicate what he has done for this team. I will cherrish the last 11 season for the rest of my life. Year after year, the national media said the window of opportunity was closing, and yet we continued to compete. I am so freaking grateful for that you could not imagine.

Nor I have said that the past 11 years have been ‘one long choke job’. What I did do was point out specific situations, in big games, where he didn’t get it done.
I understand your comment regarding Andy’s clock mgmt. Hell, i agree with it. Listening to sports radio in this town, you’d know the three things that people bitched about most are, lack of a run game, clock mgmt, and Dono’s accuracy.
But I will point out the last 3 mnutes of the super bowl the Eagles were in. Big Red was not on the field, taking his time in a huddle, strolling back to the line of scrimmage, and not completing passes…all while being down by 3. That was all McNabb. Like it was the 1st quarter and he had all the time in the world. And while it was happening…I still knew he gave us the best chance to win.

Hello folks, and Happy Holidays. I know it has been forever since I have posted here, but I’ve been on a bit of a Phish hiatus…but that is for another topic.

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top to point something out to El Bastarde.

I am going back to the Eagles Giants game from last week.

Going into the 4th qtr no one would have thought the Eagles would have won that game. Hell, goinin into the last 8 minutes, no one would think they’d win.

In fact, until they were only down a td did I think there might be a chance…but I still thought they would lose the game. Not until they tied it up did I think they COULD win it.

But they didn’t. They won. And I took some time to reflect.

I think the reason i thought for so long that they were going to lose into that game is becuase of 11 years of not being able to win a game from behind. 11 years of not showing up. 11 years of passes behind receivers, at their feet, 6 ft above them.

Again, I know Mcnabb got us where we were for so long, but he was never able to do what this team did a week ago…and he never will.

We saw it, the fans, the coach, the ownership. Now Washington has seen it (albeit a shitty team)…and soon enough so will Minn, San Fran, or AZ.

Hope you all had a great Holiday, and have a great new year. For those going to the NYE run, enjoy it…for those who are doing the couch tour, enjoy that as well…I may stop by from time to time, but, until I am able to get back to a show, i will be limited.

^Indeed. I stand corrected. McNabb is clearly done and Andy Reid saw it. Of course, he saw it because he wanted to go with Kevin Kolb and frankly, no one (except Reid, I guess) figured that Vick would still be able to play again like he used to. I give Reid credit…he cut ties with McNabb when he should have (even had no problem trading him to a rival), then also saw through his previous notion that Kolb was the better QB and stuck with Vick and it’s worked. Vick still has the same limitations (example: the Bears game where I knew Vick didn’t have a chance) he used to have though so I wonder if in a few years Philly fans will be going through the same “he’s great, not he’s not winning a Super Bowl” stuff that Atlanta had to go through…

Andy Reid should be coach of the year.

Him, Mike Tomlin or Mike Smith

As much as I don’t want to admit it, I think that Mike McCarthy in Green Bay should get mentioned for coach of the year.
To have the laundry list of injuries that Gb has had, and still be in the hunt for a playoff spot? Pretty damn good if you ask me.
Todd Haley in Kansas City should also get some mention.

^I dunno…I’ve seen some games where McCarthy has badly botched them with some poor decisions and clock management. He’s a good offensive game-planner but in the games, I wonder about him. Not to mention that their complete lack of a run game has killed them in some games.

I’m with you on Haley though…great job with that defense. Mike Smith too who has a team where you’re not sure exactly what they do great but they just keep winning games.

But my pick is easy…Bill frickin Belichick!! The guy has NO offensive coordinator AND no defensive coordinator. He’s calling the plays on both sides of the ball. And he’s still schooling teams with different offensive and defensive sets every game. I’d say it’s ole Bill by far.

Re: Donovan McNabb TRADED To Redskins

^yeah that turned out not to be such a great idea huh? I’ve never quite understood how teams can draft dudes that totally suck, G.M.'s and coaches get paid mega bucks but yet still aren’t totally sure if a guy sucks or can play ball or not. In this case they traded 2 valuable draft picks for McNabb but yet Shanahan thinks McNabb all of a sudden sucks. I mean, you couldn’t tell that McNabb sucked just 8 months ago before you decided to trade picks for the guy? I’ve always thought that they traded for the wrong Eagles quarterback. A real G.M. with some brains and some fucking research would’ve found a diamond in the rough with Michael Vick and probably scored him for just a 5th round pick cause at the time the Eagles were set to go with Kolb. A G.M. with some brains couldv’e gotten Vick on the cheap last offseason. I guarantee Vick would’ve won us 3 of those games that McNabb sucked in.
