My 2 favorite versions!
Although when they bust back into it after Moby Dick in 00. I shot out of my socks and hit my head on the top of the pavillion.
I love the version from live phish 2. I think that they reallly nailed that one. The solo gives me chills everytime.

The Clifford Ball version… thats 8-16-96 right??? Anyway too lazy to look it up but that version is what I’ll measure any Disease up to. Was just so awesome, so happy. I thought that song stole the show!
I’ll be honest: I really don’t think the Ball version is all that. It’s great, to be sure, but I don’t place it in the pantheon of all-time great “Disease” jams.
LP 11 really does a good job, i like the -> into olivias too, that show is tits.

DWD always leant itself to some crazy jamming, but what always does it for me is that opening bassline…it really is what makes Mike the greatest. Having said that I just heard the 4/17/99 PL&F version the other day and I really love the way Phil brings it for that performace. He doesn’t really take it that far out there, but how can the thought of Phil playing that bassline not bring a huge smile to your face.
I don’t know that I really have a favorite version, but I know there aren’t any I don’t like.

I would agree that 7-11-00 is one of the best out there. The whole 2nd set is teh-tits, but the 2001>DWD>MD>DWD is just awe-inspiring, jaw dropping, shite the shorts mind-blowing. Oh yeah, and I really like it alot!

In terms of 2000, gotta give the nod to RCMH because they take it past the typical “Disease” jamming (and then bring it back around proper!)
I’m starting to like 1994 versions more and more!
