I have always meant to do the ear plug thing. At Hampton, the reverberation was so loud I could hear the music better when I covered my ears. There was a white noise in the background otherwise. Plus, I’d rather not go deaf.
I had four packs of earplugs for the express purpose of bringing them to a show. They sat in my desk for 10 whole years and not once did I remember to bring them. It got rid-icculus so I finally threw them out about two months ago. Do earplugs go bad? Probably not.
^Hahahahaha BOOM!
I wear them at band practice, but don’t ever wear them when I see or play shows.
i’ve never felt the need for them at phish shows. especially outdoor shows.
i saw these things once called sonic noise filters. they were like earplugs sort of but were just for blocking out ambient noise to let you hear the music better. i’d like to try those out.
Are there ear plugs that block out annoying people yelling next to you?
never felt the need
No for me. Ruins the highs, mids and lows. Especially for Phish.
me neither, if a person is talking to much just keep firing up the bowls they can’t talk with a piece of glass in they mouth!!
I think that pretty much sums up my feelings!
Not at outdoor shows, unless I’m really close to the speakers.
Most indoor shows don’t need it either, but if your on the floor and close you should.
Like zoot said, some places like Hampton get alot of white noise & reverb.
You really don’t notice until you leave the show and your ears ring for like 3 hours.
I only really wear them when I go to clubs here in the city.
I highly recommend Hearos. Made for music. http://hearos.com/earplugs/products-00211.html
You can find them at Walgreens type places as well.
I got these for my b-day. You can hear everything perfect.
Totally worth it if you see alot of live music, protect your hearing.
Nope…
i’ve never actually been close enough to need them.
No…I wouldn’t even consider it for an outdoor show, but maybe I’ll start wearing them for smaller indoor shows.
i got within 6 rows of the stage at hampton 2nd night and i coulda used some earplugs. i’ve never come out of a phish show with my head ringing because of the volume before…
No earplugs for me.
what at where? eh? eh?
This is what makes me want to start wearing them. It seems like whenever I go to indoor shows, I leave the place and can’t hear right for a few hours. Those Hearos look like they would be worth trying for sure.
The loudest show i’ve ever seen was the Roots at City stages in birmingham. They crank that bass up so high and add a miced up tuba to the equation and its just so loud. I could feel the bones rattling inside me basically
This is very true. Never used ear plugs, but I did notice this during the YEM vocal jam, which was so loud and intense that I thought my brain was melting. When I covered my ears it only seemed like I was trapping the music inside my head.
wow…Never, Never to loud
