Election 08

I’m writing in Ron Paul (of course), I’m not going to waste my vote for the Republicrat party.

I’m getting pretty excited to see the Obama hopes dashed by the Mccain hacked voting machines or the Mclame hopes dashed by the FAKE Obamanation. Either way I WIN this year, hahahahaha.

I cannot wait until Obama starts going through with the police state BS that W started, oh and just wait for the Afghanistan escalation or the Russia debacle, not to mention the insolvency of the federal government. WOW, this is gonna be good, um I mean BAD. Wait, wait um…yeah BAD

I know I’m against probably most of the ideals on this board, but I’m a conservative that happens to dig good music. Hey what can I say. My vote will be cast for John McCain. I don’t think he has a chance to win a week from today, but you never know. It’s just amazing to see the record turnout in all the states.

I just can’t believe how captivated people are with Barack Obama. He is an amazing man and amazing presenter of his thoughts and ideas. He is “Kennedyesque.” I’m not saying he is Kennedy just “Kennedyesque.”

Let’s face it the any Republican was doomed from the beginning as of result of W and now the economy is in the shitter. Perhaps if McCain selected Romney as his VP candidate this might have eased voter’s concerns over the economy. I don’t think so as people are enthralled with Obama. I guess we’ll find a week from tomorrow, but I hope everyone is ready for the left wing to run this country. Yikes!!!

I’m a conservative also. However, John McCain is a Democrat to me and didn’t get my vote. Like thnkfrstpal, I was gonna write in Ron Paul, but I ultimately decided to vote for Bob Barr.

I don’t get what everyone see’s in Obama. He’s a good speaker, but hasn’t actually done much. People criticize Sarah Palin’s lack of experience, when in reality she has much more experience than Obama. He say’s he plans to cut taxes for 95% of Americans, when 95% of Americans don’t pay taxes.

I also hate how he keeps saying that “Bush’s failed economic policies” got us into this financial mess. Ummmm, no. It can be traced back to the democrat philosophy that everyone deserves a home, and thus Fannie and Freddie (headed by democrats) gave loans to people who didn’t deserve them. Of course the Republicans deserve some blame too, but I think most of the blame falls on Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, etc.

I am a Broward County native and registered voter.

I will be accidentally voting for Pat Buchanan.

The dems set the table and the pubs FEASTED.

the republicrats are one and the same. This time the pubs set the table for the police state via FISA and BAILOUT now the dems will FEAST.

CHANGE? yeah right…

I’m not so sure that Obama has this locked up. The headline on Drudge right now says Obama is only up by 2.

There’s also the possibility of the Bradley effect coming into play here, so I still think McCain has a shot. If I were to put money on it though, I’d go with Obama, as much as I hate to say it. He doesn’t have it all wrapped up, though.

miami here…tell me about it.

a vote for ron paul is a wasted fucking vote.

^No you have it backwards. A vote for the Republicrats is a WASTED vote my friend.

^^^ummm, didn’t Ron Paul run his 2008 campaign under the Republican banner? So in essence, by writing his name in like you claim to do, you are voting for a republican. haha, I bet that realization really gets you pissed huh? -did Alex not mention that on his show or somethin??

now I’m not gonna tell anybody how to vote, but I will say that if you are against Obama and McCain, there is only one guy you should vote for who can actually create REAL change in this country for the better…and his name ain’t Ron.

^Go Bills!!!

got blink?

In the nobler sense of the voting concept I agree. Voting for either of these two ‘major’ candidates just perpetuates the cancer that is eating away at our political and cultural fabric.

But if you really think about the impact of your desire to vote for Paul, who will never win, wouldn’t you have to ask yourself, shouldn’t I be backing the candidate that most closely approximates the values that I was looking for in backing Paul?

Is it better to get none of those values in your next president, or at least some? I know it’s a comforting thought to believe you voted your conscience, and I would never fault anyone for doing so since this IS what voting is supposed to be about, but unfortunately, we only have two rather crapass choices here.

But given these two choices, it really isn’t that hard for me to decide. I simply imagine that if I were on the board of directors of one of the largest companies in the world, and it was entrusted to me to vote on the next CEO of that company, and Obama and McCain came to us with their resumes? Come on think about this. You don’t make a newly hired junior manager CEO just because he talks well. You look at what he’s done. And basically the Obama resume folder is empty, like most of his speeches. This is almost a no brainer except maybe for McCain’s choice of Palin. But Obama’s choice of Biden was equally as bad, so there’s the wash for VP.

There are other things that have swayed me against Obama as well, and I have to admit that my vote is more a lesser of two evils decision. Number one, Obama is a socialist, this re-distribution of wealth thing is unbelievably wrong. Marx was so wrong in his thinking as nowhere in nature is socialism a standard rule or law. As a matter of fact, socialism is such an unnatural concept, that imposing it is bound to doom a society to fail over the long run because it discourages creativity, motivation, and all desire to break boundaries especially for those elements of society that it purports to 'equalize".

Turning the executive branch over to a liberal socialist when the congress is also controlled by them is really putting a fox in charge of the henhouse. The adversarial relationship between the parties helps keep each in check. Without it, there will be more government spending than ever before. And increasing taxes on businesses is also not a real bright position, unless you want to drive more business out of the country, and increase the ranks of the unemployed because this is what happens when you do this. Think about it. Put yourself at the head of a small to mid-size business. You have to pay more taxes that cut into profits, what do you do? Say yes my government I see how wise you are and want to share my wealth as you deem fit, and go on your merry way. No. You reduce your liabilities by cutting payroll, or increase assets by raising your prices so that your business will have a chance at growing.

The Democrats have always cast ‘big business’ as the evil entity in this country, and individual corporate greed is a problem in extreme isolated cases. But you can’t go after the average, middle class businesses because of a few healots. Besides, the dems and the pubs have been in bed with the healots, so who’s calling what kettle black. These creeps who are using the financial crisis as a means to blame Bush, McCain and the republicans for the downturn in the economy ARE the fuckheads who caused it in the first place. The forced lowering of the mortgage lending criteria was pushed and implemented by the dems (with some publican help) in congress, and the money that was reaped by the creeps heading up Fannie and Freddie are the same ones throwing tons of money to Obama. This is really the other side of the looking glass.

Speaking of money, how does a poor black guy from Hawaii manage to build a 640 million dollar campaign fund? HE REPRESENTS CHANGE??? Are you f’ing kidding me?

This guy has been bought by so many interest groups, and these aren’t the little contributors they would have you believe. This is BIG BUSINESS, OVERSEAS MONEY, and gawd knows who else. Obama is going to have to pay back an awful lot of people, and guess WHERE that money will come from? TAXES

We’re in a ton of shit as a nation. With either choice, the future isn’t looking too bright. Even McCain is too weak to overcome the bottlenecks in the polical system to make any real change. The only hope comes from his past performance as he more often bucked his own party politics to vote on many issues the way he saw fit. Although he goofed around too and spent a lot of time out of the senate, playing his own brand of politics, but at least he’s predictable and will be somewhat a check on congress. Even if the pubs gain control at some future point, McCain has the track record of not drinking the koolaid. Obama has guzzled the koolaid and has half this country sold on it as well.

This sux for sure.

Remember that the Dem’s have controlled the house for over 2 years now… So some of the CRAP you see is not only from the Pub’s but also the highly touted Dem’s too…

I will say, writing in a person because you want to say you voted for so and so, remind yourself that this actually hurts your own cause… Vote for the person that comes closest to what you feel…

To Fono’s point above, Obama has Hollywood, big interest and yes he is very, I mean VERY green when it comes to the Political game… Palin is short on the political side as well, but man oh man, she has been in REAL life times, not like the multi millionaire Obama…

I will never slight ANYONE for the way they vote, but I do think writing in Barr or Ron Paul, actually hurts your cause - Thats all…

Keep in mind I do not like what Bush has become, but can you blame one man for all the troubles? Or did some UNREAL events and help from BOTH parties seal his faith to a degree? Oh by the way, I also voted for Clinton back when so my ideals are not always complete Pub or Dem, but I know how I feel and there is not a candidate who covers all corners with me!!!

Read on for a funny~~~ A letter sent in-

Why I’m voting Democrat

Letter to the editor:

I’m voting Democrat because like most Americans I trust lawyers more than anyone else; I think only lawyers should run the government, and all the Democrat Leaders are lawyers: Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, John Edwards, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Leader Harry Reid, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry, to name just a few. (Al Gore dropped out of Law School, so I don’t trust him as much, except on Global Warming.)

I’m voting Democrat because the Democrats support the trial lawyers and I think this country needs more lawsuits and less tort reform. And I don’t believe the trial lawyers’ contributions have a thing to do with it.

I’m voting Democrat because Congress has done such a wonderful job under Democrat leadership the last two years, that I want a lot more of the same.

I’m voting Democrat because I want to get my health care from the same competent, efficient, cost-effective, customer-service-focused folks who run the US Post Office, the Pentagon, FEMA and the state Registry of Motor Vehicles.

I’m voting Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I’m voting Democrat because Sen. Obama has promised to cut the taxes of 95% of the people, including the 30% who don’t pay taxes.

I’m voting Democrat because Sen. Obama has promised to take away the secret ballot in union elections, and I think the union bosses should know if a workingman or woman is with them, or against them.

I’m voting Democrat because Sen. Obama has over three years experience in the Federal Government, and “Hope” is a great strategy.

I’m voting Democrat because Sen. Obama voted “present” instead of “yes” or “no” over 120 times in the Illinois State Senate, and I think we need a decisive president.

I’m voting Democrat because I think that drilling for American oil is foolish, when we can buy oil from the Middle East.

I’m voting Democrat because I think windmills (except off Hyannis) are a better answer to reliable, clean energy than Nuclear Energy.

I’m voting Democrat because I don’t think we give enough to other countries in foreign aid.

I’m voting Democrat because I’m for putting up barriers to free trade, as they did in 1930 with the Smoot-Hawley bill. That made things much better then.

I’m voting Democrat because I miss the high unemployment, inflation and interest rates of the Jimmy Carter years.

I’m voting Democrat because parents shouldn’t get to choose the school their kids go to. Parents should leave their children’s education to the teachers and stay out of it.

I’m voting Democrat because I think this is the perfect time to raise the Capital Gains tax and drive investment money out of the stock market.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

I’m voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would, and I want to spread my wealth around to those who earn less

I think McCain’s statement about Obama here is very interesting:

“No wonder he thinks there are a lot of very rich people out there. Everybody is rich when you define rich as $42,000 a year.”

Thanks for all that Fone … while I fundamentally disagree on overall perspective issue for issue, your post is fair and reasonable and articulate. So often with politics, your blood can boil when you hear it from the other side, you know?

Not so in this case … I instead felt I was witnessing a refreshingly straightforward take on things that is in contrast to mine, yet was not in the least bit agitated by any of it. Hope that makes sense, thanks for speaking your mind in such a clear & respectful way, Uncle Fonebeneezer.

i’m so weary of politics. it just brings out the worst in so many people.

several of my friends, who have no idea who i am or am not voting for because i’ve kept pretty quiet on it, are getting more and more violent (verbally) in their attacks. they’ve been aligning me with the opponent they don’t want and attacking me on whatever that opponents policies are. i usually let them rant for a while hoping they’ll just run out of steam. i say “i have serious doubts about both the major candidates, and will most likely be voting third party.” then the labeling and attacks begin on that. i have no desire to hang out with many of my longtime friends any longer.

i think the world has officially lost it’s fuckin marbles.

this pretty much says it all

[flash=350,287]http://www.youtube.com/v/Qq8Uc5BFogE&hl=en&fs=1[/flash]

this is what i’m talking about. i found this video a few days ago and absolutely love it.

And Obama made and interesting remark about Mcain as well:

“Now, because he knows that his economic theories don’t work, he’s been spending these last few days calling me every name in the book. Lately he’s called me a socialist for wanting to roll-back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. I don’t know what’s next. By the end of the week he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

Well actually, Barry, he calls you a socialist because you have stated you believe in redistribution of wealth, and that you choose “carefully” to associate yourself with Marxist professors in college, and have been associated with Marxists such as Bill Ayers. Also don’t forget that you’re rated the most liberal member of the senate, even farther to the left than self-described Socialist Bernie Sanders. THATS why people are calling you a Marxist.
