FAMUS' VINE IDEA

ok so.

as many of you viner’s have come to notice, one too many times we end up having hte discs on a vine unburnable at some point. I realize that with cassette tapes, each time you copy, the new copy is of a lesser quality than the older copy, and therefore, when doing a vine of a cassette tape the original should be sent on to the next person down the line.

HOWEVER, in this new era of cd’s dvd’s and LOTS OF SCRATCHES ON THEM, I am proposing that quality will not be reduced when copied, and that if the original is the one that is always sent on down the vine, it will eventually scratch the point of unburnability with all of the handling thas is being done.

The solution: when you burn a cd or a dvd for a vine, keep the copy that you received in the mail, and send off the newly burned, scratch free copy to the next person on the vine, no matter how good condition the original is in.

i think this should work, and hopefully prevent people’s discs from not burning or not reading.

if anyone has a better idea than please say so here in this thread.

I was thinking about this just the other day!

I got thinking about it becuase of the trouble we’ve been having on this Project Midnight Sunrise vine. Could it be possible we’re having so much trouble because the disc’s got burned too many times and something happened to them?

I cleaned them up real nice before I tried burning them and they still didn’t work…

Not sure if this would work, but I hope we can figure something out.

i dig it famus. it could help out quite a bit. those cypress ones were pissing me off!!!

^I can’t get any to burn, sorry I can’t help you out and get you disc’s 1 and 4 Brad.

Really? I just did a brief search of the vine board and only noticed about three occurances of this. Must of the vines are stalled because people aren’t sending them out, or they’re lost in the mail.

Not neccesarily, ideally when you make a digital copy it will be 1:1. But, small errors can occur (very small, like a blip of static), and, after repeated copying, these errors can build up.

Yes, if the copy you receive is still in pristine condition, send off the original. But, if you can see scratches send off the copy you make.

And always be VERY careful when handling the discs.

  1. all of my friends from detrizzy have had problems with the cypress discs…

I think it was a rush job and have not seen a flawless copy of ANY of the discs…(thats just me…maybe they fucked it up…)

  2. perhaps sending it as a data disc would prevent people from putting it in cd players/FRONT load cd players (ie. car stereos…we ALL know that this is an awful idea for discs…burned or not)

3…this has nothing to do with burning problems…BUT!!!..i think anyone involved with vines…you all sign up…then post yer location and the discs should be sent out in order of geographic location…

like…say…it went

  1. cincy.
  2. philly.
  3. san fran.
  4. topeka.
  5. talahasseeeeeee
    6 philly.

so why not make it…ohio…philly…philly…tala…topeka…san fran…ya know what i mean?

no?

fine…

feck offffffff.

Another suggestion I’d like to add; if you’re having problems with discs do not just send them on without making yourself copies and hoping that someone will send you some working discs. If you’re having a problem, tell us. Someone will try to help you work it out, and if the discs still don’t work, the person who sent you the discs will send you another copy. If those discs don’t work…then there is most likely a problem with your burner, so you should send the new discs on to the next person without making a copy for yourself.

The Cypress discs are quite…um, scratched…but play okay. However, I was gonna copy them for one of my friends and they WON’T copy! Sorry Guella…guess this thread suggests a lot.

^But like it was stated earlier, 1:1 with digital? Right, or is this not accurate?
