I dig “AC/DC Bag” as a opener, b/c of the lyrics “Let’s get this show on the road.” I thought the “Bag -> Psycho Killer” from Dayton '97 was incredibly appropriate.
Pretty run-of-the-mill, probably been said, but I love a Wilson opener.
Tube is one of my favorite set openers. Just gets the show of with a boom. Julius, and PYITE are also rocking.

Wilson is a classic, Tube is great too.
But I think Emotional Rescue takes the cake!
If you’re taking someone to their first show and they open with Chalkdust, they’ll crap their pants.
It’s not too high on this list only because it’s been played as an opener so many times.

As far as crazy openers. It was nice to hear it at the beginning of the show, cause most times at the end of a set when they usually play it, after the built up ending, you want to hear more and then the shows over.
I agree that Ya Mar is the BEST summer opener. And Buried Alive and Chalkdust get things off to a shakin’ start.
Ha Ha Ha was my first show, which i really like, but I think AC/DC bag has to be my fave, great energy…then again llama is pretty sick too…hmmm…and the worcester YEM is incredible…but I still love a good AC/DC!

I liked Prince long before I liked Phish and Phish’s 1999 doesn’t do it for me. They get pretty funky for a minute at the end though.
^ I think I agree…I do love the Phish version but moreso as an anomoly as opposed to it being a GREAT cover for them (ie Roses, Drowned, etc). I think maybe if they would have kept playing it a lot, like those songs, it could have become a serious jam vehicle. Also the teases of it throughout that set are pretty tight, maybe tighter than the song itself.

I got 2 of those. Out of 3 shows.
You forgot to mention that they only opened with Harry 3 times ever. Once back in 85. Then the other 2 which were played during the immortal 99! 
Edit: 4 times. Hank allerted me to a Post hiatus Hood opener that escaped me!
