7/22/03!
^^^
That show is “sick” Cannot wait to get the complete version w/o the cut off during SOAM. Sweet!!!
^ that is the best live phish release IMO
for me, no live phish release is better than Sugarbush '94. the second set antelope>catapult>antelope opener is completely out of hand. and the rest of that show is ridiculous.
OPENER: BURIED ALIVE
^Sugarbush '94 is the best Phish i’ve ever heard, especially in the CD releases.
i really liked the openers down in Miami. especially Wilson unfinished>Sand>Shafty>NICU on 12/30 and then Wilson ending>Mike’s Groove on NYE. I was blown away.
the YEM from worcester in winter of '03 was pretty damn good. and well deserved after waiting so long for the band to come on stage.
Cover of the Rolling Stone
It wasn’t technically the opener but it was the first PH show (Inglewood, CA tTHe Forum) so they warmed up with Poor Heart and then came out with this. It was neat cause it was PH and they were on the cover of Rolling Stone that week plus everyone was really into the movie at that time as well (the title escapes me now you know Kate hudson)

2.28.03–this birds of a feather stands out in my mind above all other live versions I’ve heard. It is a raging opener, with tight jamming and a nice build up.
Who knew then what would happen next?
^
I agree, it is quite good…but have you heard 7.10.99? THAT is a version that is really out there.
TWEEZEEEERRRR!
Sneakin’ Sally (12/30/97 as a long overdue bustout!)
Reba (6/19/04)
Tube (4/2/98…this set don’t get no love)
Icculus (Halloween 95!!! THE BOOK IS GETTING ITS ASS KICKED!!! ARRGHHHH!)
Sanity (Halloween 96!!)
I agree on a couple counts, I was at the Saratoga show 6-19-04 and the reba opener was impressive for '04, and that tube opener on 4-2-98 is WAY underrated, I love how they start it off like PYITE, and then open the 2nd set with it. All 3 are among my favorite openers
Did someone say Amoreena???
I have been thinking about her lately…
i actually completely forgot about Llama. And in early 90’s shows, THE LANDLADY. Check 3-21-92, pretty sweet show altogether
Peaches or Timber
I dig “AC/DC Bag” as a opener, b/c of the lyrics “Let’s get this show on the road.” I thought the “Bag -> Psycho Killer” from Dayton '97 was incredibly appropriate.
Pretty run-of-the-mill, probably been said, but I love a Wilson opener.
