Favorite Alpine show

The final in a four part series…The '98 show is great… my choice.

you forgot '96 in this poll

but '97 is best

Ran out of room, so for these four polls picked my personal favorite 7. I do very much enjoy that '96 show. That was a HUGE show for that band in summer '96!!! First time at Alpine, before the festies, they delivered for sure!!! Reba, Gin, and the whole Fluff>Whipping Post>Hood is tits for sure man…

'98. That’s a weird ass show.

08-01-98 Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, WI

2: Piper, Wilson, Also Sprach Zarathustra^ -> Magilla -> Also Sprach Zarathustra^ -> Tweezer -> Fluffhead^^, Brian and Robert, Albuquerque > Chalkdust Torture, Frankenstein (1:21)

E: Been Caught Stealing+ > Tweezer Reprise (0:09)

*Led Zeppelin cover; first time played; Page on lead vocals. **With random note language by both Page and Trey. ^With “Crosseyed and Painless” teases. ^^With tramps. +First time played (Jane’s Addiction cover); Trey on lead vocals; Mike and Trey on trampolines.

Although '96 was my first Phish show and it will always hold that “special place” with me,
'98 was the shite!
And I know that the '00 show gets a lot of flack on here, I still think that show is damn good. Not too experimental, but just a straight up, tightly played show. And that Antelope from '00, to me, ranks up there.

The YEM from 7-19-2003 was legendary!

I’ve been to every Alpine since 99’ and my first show there is still by far the best (one of the best I think I’ve seen period)…

A sprinkle of Gamehendge, 3 CRAZY BUST-OUTS (Camel Walk, Glide, Alumni) and 1st Happy Whip…

Trey and Mike sang Catapult in harmony over the top of Tweezer.

Agreed. That’s the one I voted for, although the 98 show was a close 2nd.

I didn’t vote on Alpine. Having a hard time picking. Way too much good music. Even the 04 shows are good.

agreed! I love that show.

Some say best PH YEM…But the 1st set LEO TRIO is what that show is all about…Also Piper was epic…

This is without a question the 98 show. Not even a competition. The 03 show was strong effort for PH, but does not hold a candle to the 98 show.

(edit) Take the encore from the 99 show and put it in place of the 98 encore and you would have an “EPIC” Phish show!

i have never been a fan of any of the alpine shows. never heard 98 but outta the ones ive heard id have to say 97 takes the prize. I would say 99 but everything just seems so sloppy and lifeless from that 99 show. Im gonna go with 97.

the 03 show was my first so i’m a little biost, but the Leo trio piper yem plus a velvet sea encor. couldn’t have asked for a better first show otherwise i would go with the 98 show killer show
