I know I’ll probably get flamed as hell for this but comapred to European chocolate, American stuff is lousy.

There I said it.

Allow me to clarify. Hershey’s are rubbish

Here are my top ten…

  1. Mars bar - a hit of pure sugar, best when left in the fridge for a long time

  2. Maltesers - light and fluffy, the capuccino of candy, though always stale if bought in corner shops!

  3. double decker - 2 candy bars in one, enjoyed as a whole or by peeling of the top layer and enjoying separately

  4. Cadbury’s dairy milk - the candy equivilant of crude oil - the irreducable element from whence all other bars came.

  5. walnut wip - a chocolate turban filled with sugary clouds. with a nut on top

  6. Flake, truly the most erotic of chocalte bars.

  7. Wispa, sadly no longer with us, a zen chocolate bar wherein texture was the primary sensory force, not taste

  8. Chocolate orange - enjoyed as a stand alone bar or the eponymous cricketball of choclate that is the orange itself.

  9. Galaxy ripple, a smoother more velvety ‘flake’ in a snug chocolate jacket

  10. Toblerone, get on your filthy knees and worship the Mont blanc of chocolate

Reeses peanut butter cups and milk duds. I like milk duds because i am an insanely fast eater and it takes forever to chew a milk dud thus actually allowing me to enjoy the treat.

American chocolate sucks ass. You don’t have to be afraid of flames. Hershey’s chocolate is kinda like poops. Ghiradelli is good, but you really need chocolate from europe. German chocolate in small proportions.

I’m with the young Minnesottan, although I am partial to dark chocolate fixes. I agree, Hershey’s is overrated, and so is Ghiradelli’s. My personal, off the shelf favorite is Dove dark chocolate.

Probably why, at 58, I have seven crowns and a partial bridge in my mouth.

No, that is the correct response.

The cool thing is that Cadbury only sell them between Xmas and easter. Also, mini-eggs too, which rock the block.
