WEEN & PAGE respectivly!
oh yeah…page was great too.
I was pretty let down by Page’s solo band. Seeing him play (and seeing the show with my boy Brian (Gamecat 8-))) was good though I suppose.
MMW in May at a small festival in Minnesota was seck. Even though most of the people I talked to said it was one of the worst MMW shows they’ve seen, it was still fun seeing them in such an intimate setting.
For some reason Ratdog at 10k stands out to me, even though I walked away after the Terrapin and only heard the rest from a distance. Still I was impressed.
SCI Horning’s Hideout was quite the experience for me, even if they aren’t a particularly favorite band of mine, I still had a blast there, especially on the first night, 7.27.07 I believe.
Damn, I’m trying to think back to Bonnaroo and I can’t pinpoint one show that I really had a great time at. Cheese was really good there too I guess…that was probably the most intense night of the summer for me, haha.
Ween in Madison in October was fun…and then Panic the next night was dece.
I had just as much fun at a lot of local shows though…Down Lo, gold Standard, and Hyentyte, all Minneapolis bands, have all gotten me off this year.
I haven’t been to a show since the last time I was in the presence of my master: Obi dong. He showed me the farce and I was never the same.
I think that was Leo Kottke 2 winters ago in Stratham, NH. So that was the best show I’ve seen in the last 2 years. Which doesn’t really count.
That reminds me that Leo Kottke and Leon Redbone are coming to Fargo on March 21!!!
I gotta buy tickets for that pronto. I love Leo’s playing. I saw him in '05 at a small theater and it was a good time.
damn…you guys keep reminding me of shows i saw. i saw leo earlier this year…

I saw no shows this year, except for Rush … I think, anyway. I play most Friday nights, so does that count? … Guess not; I didn’t actually watch the shows.
But my favorite show of the year (although I didn’t actually go) is the Led Zep concert … I’m still all psyched that they did that.
Somebody’s hitting the philly scene hard.
Wow, beasties at penns landing? cool beans. I used to love the river blues and jambalaya jam.

I think I’m missing some others, i’d have to go check the tix stub pile to be sure
Still the best was the MSMW show back in Nov 06, that show took me into outer space and i was stone sober
Lollapalooza
I was very close to going to Grant Park (and hopefully the Vic to see Pearl Jam) but decided to stay at home and watch the webcast, which was great - excellent camera angles and sound - all whilst drinking at my place with the doors & windows open! It was fun, convenient, and free.
yes. yes i am. i’m lovin being back “in the scene”
those were a little before my time but the names definitely sound familiar (and they still may be happening??)
beasties was so loud we had to stand to the side of the stage. cerealy they rocked/funked it out louder and harder than anyone i saw this year.
yep.
i think i was at all of those except the new years run bisco ones…i forgot about the join. both of those shows were pretty hot.
that MSMW show last fall was fantastic. i saw em again at moe.down this year and they’re still fantastic. i’m hoping to hit up langerado to catch em again while i still can.
funny you’ve been talking about “huffing gas” lately…i was actually given a ticket at that show for doing just that. the cops were being complete assholes about it too, threatening to rough us up and shit like that…long story short, my girl and i went to court to fight it (total BS, no proof whatsoever) and got off scot free, but…sadly, our friend who was with us tried to get a “plea” to “get it over with” and ended up with an $800 fine and 1 year of probation. about a week after we got our shit dismissed i saw a news story about some kid the cops beat to death in the same lot at some show last summer. the lesson kids, is be careful in the tweeter lots.
[/end rant]
anyway, if i had to pick a top single show it was probably DJ Shadow at Bonnaroo. one of the best AV experiences I’ve ever had. I’m pumped to see him again (w/ Cut Chemist and Kid Koala) on the 25th.
yeah, you do have to watch yourself in the tweeter lot, i saw cops nabbing people for n02 during the phil and friends lot, thats when i decided it was time to go into the show
Andrew Bird - 11-29-07 at Lupos Heartbreak Hotel
Derek Trucks Band - 11-07-07 at Mohegan Sun Wolfden
Front fucking row for both shows. Andrew takes the cake though. To me, he’s the most impressive musician writing and touring today.
I forgot about Tool.
Tool is good.
tDB 11/3 Cleveland was easily the best show i saw this year and probably the best i’ve seen since Phish.
RatDog 8/15 was also pretty good as well as Drive-by Truckers at All Good.
