moe. new years run!
I saw no shows this year, except for Rush … I think, anyway. I play most Friday nights, so does that count? … Guess not; I didn’t actually watch the shows.
But my favorite show of the year (although I didn’t actually go) is the Led Zep concert … I’m still all psyched that they did that.
Somebody’s hitting the philly scene hard.
Wow, beasties at penns landing? cool beans. I used to love the river blues and jambalaya jam.

i saw many of the shows on jamphans list, all being pretty damn good
i’d have to go with the MSMW tho, and that wasn’t even 07, that was Nov 06, it still topped all the stuff from 07.

Ratdog w/Allman Bro’s & Keller 8/17/07 Tweeter
I think I’m missing some others, i’d have to go check the tix stub pile to be sure
Still the best was the MSMW show back in Nov 06, that show took me into outer space and i was stone sober
Lollapalooza
I was very close to going to Grant Park (and hopefully the Vic to see Pearl Jam) but decided to stay at home and watch the webcast, which was great - excellent camera angles and sound - all whilst drinking at my place with the doors & windows open! It was fun, convenient, and free.
yes. yes i am. i’m lovin being back “in the scene”
those were a little before my time but the names definitely sound familiar (and they still may be happening??)
beasties was so loud we had to stand to the side of the stage. cerealy they rocked/funked it out louder and harder than anyone i saw this year.
yep.
i think i was at all of those except the new years run bisco ones…i forgot about the join. both of those shows were pretty hot.
that MSMW show last fall was fantastic. i saw em again at moe.down this year and they’re still fantastic. i’m hoping to hit up langerado to catch em again while i still can.
funny you’ve been talking about “huffing gas” lately…i was actually given a ticket at that show for doing just that. the cops were being complete assholes about it too, threatening to rough us up and shit like that…long story short, my girl and i went to court to fight it (total BS, no proof whatsoever) and got off scot free, but…sadly, our friend who was with us tried to get a “plea” to “get it over with” and ended up with an $800 fine and 1 year of probation. about a week after we got our shit dismissed i saw a news story about some kid the cops beat to death in the same lot at some show last summer. the lesson kids, is be careful in the tweeter lots.
[/end rant]
anyway, if i had to pick a top single show it was probably DJ Shadow at Bonnaroo. one of the best AV experiences I’ve ever had. I’m pumped to see him again (w/ Cut Chemist and Kid Koala) on the 25th.
yeah, you do have to watch yourself in the tweeter lot, i saw cops nabbing people for n02 during the phil and friends lot, thats when i decided it was time to go into the show
Andrew Bird - 11-29-07 at Lupos Heartbreak Hotel
Derek Trucks Band - 11-07-07 at Mohegan Sun Wolfden
Front fucking row for both shows. Andrew takes the cake though. To me, he’s the most impressive musician writing and touring today.
I forgot about Tool.
Tool is good.
tDB 11/3 Cleveland was easily the best show i saw this year and probably the best i’ve seen since Phish.
RatDog 8/15 was also pretty good as well as Drive-by Truckers at All Good.
ok here goes my extended list and this is why i love festivals:
moe.-summer camp
les claypool-summer camp
future rock(1st show)- summer camp
groovatron( both shows)-summer camp
String Cheese (3rd ever show)-10k
ratdog(1st show)-10k
blueground undergrass(2nd show)-10k
bump-10k
green lemon-10k
bobby lee rodgers and the code talkers-strip mines music fest
fareed haque-strip mines music fest
groovatron-strip mines music festival
soap-strip mines music fest
Oh shit! This is tuff. I presented over 70 bands this year, let alone the rediculous number of shows I see on a regular basis. here are some of the highlights of the year:
The Hold Steady: Metro x 2, Lolla, and House of Blues these guys are ALWAYS awesome
LCD Soundsystem @ Lolla
Maritime @ Schubas and Wicker Park Summer Fest
I’m From Barcelona @ Lolla
Jamie Lydell @ Pitchfork Festival
Architecture in Helsinki @ SXSW
The Pipettes: SXSW x2, Empty Bottle, Double Door
Deals Gone Bad @ Riot Fest
The Queers @ Cobra Lounge
Russian Circles @ Double Door x 2
Shout Out Out Out Out @ SXSW
Catfish Haven and Chin Up Chin Up @ Double Door
Scotland Yard Gospel Choir @ Empty Bottle
Daft Punk @ Lolla
Darkest Hour @ Sounds of the Underground
that’s cool you saw these guys. they’re from my neck of the woods and are all pretty cool folk. haven’t seen them in a while, but they always put on a great show.
actually didn’t get to many shows this year. 2007 marks the first year since 2002 that I haven’t seen Phil Lesh, same goes for Bob Dylan. And the first year since 2001 that has been 100% Phish-less.
but i still saw some good shit. here’s what comes to mind
WANEE
WANEE
WANEE
every last song of it
Flaming Lips, Weir, Wilco, Manu Chao, The Police, Mule, SCI @Bonnaroo
WSP @Bonnaroo and Langerado
New Pornographers at Langerado
Less Than Jake in Ft Lauderdale - outside stage at Revolution
Mofro in Ft Lauderdale at the Culture Room
Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi in Boca
You saw Phish in 2001? Nice…
good to see some one with some lotus in their list!
