favorite dead tunes

Mississippi Half Step is a current favorite. As is Wharf Rat.

Not really a dude tune or whatever, but I’ve been listening to the first Garcia album lately, and with a couple exceptions, I feel this is the best album to come out of the dead camp. Did the Dead or Garcia ever play any of the instrumental stuff off the second side? Particularly Eep Hour? I love Garcia’s piano on To Lay Me Down. I wonder if Garcia ever played that song live on the piano, solo, brooding, in a room full of candles and ghosts…

All my favorites have been mentioned exept for Jack-a-roe.

I’m listening to 12.28.88 and cripes I know I’m up way too late, but Jack Straw completely rocks.

such a great Jerry solo. unbelievable, really.

That’s how good Jerry is.

3 1/2 years dead and he still rocks your face.

Yeah, those “source: Heaven>akg460b/ck63>V2>SBM1>D8, by John T. Bapist” sources have GREAT sound to them.

;D

I really love Phil’s songs…Unbroken Chain, Box of Rain, Pride of Cucamonga, New Potato Caboose, and Passenger. Is there any I’m missing? He has that one on Go To Heaven right? I’ve seen Phil 4 times now and I’ve yet to see him play Box of Rain. Hopefully this summer.

^Maybe it’s me, but I’d say you’re not missing much. I saw it as an encore and it was okay…but I guess I’m just not as big a fan of that tune in general.

Strangely enough, American Beauty was my very first foray into the GD and I absolutely loved “Box of Rain” to kick start things.

“Attics of My Life” is the only song on that album I don’t enjoy.
