Favorite New Stuff of 2010

What’s been you favorite stuff so far in this tour? covers or originals…

I flipped out when they played Look Out Cleveland at Blossom but it didn’t really translate to the tapes, Curtis Loew was my favorite cover from that night but obviously its not new, I had just listened to The Brown Album on the way up so it was just awesome and totally unexpected…I think my favorite new cover though has been Tom Waits’ Cold Water, dunno why really, I just really liked it live and Mike does some cool stuff in there, very bluesy sound that Phish does justice in their own way I think after hearing the original

As far as the new originals go, I’d have to say that Dr. Gabel has been my favorite i guess, that and Mike’s new one Idea…Idea more from a musicianship standpoint, Dr. Gabel more from the lyrical standpoint…still haven’t heard Page’s new one (note to self: finally check it out)…what say you??

Dr. Gabel…without a doubt for original. The Rover would have to be my favorite new cover.

halfway to the moon, show of life, the rover, stealing time as a set closer, treys new
sound on tte…

I love the mystery of this tour. Since Portsmouth it’s been very hard to predict where the boys will take things. Something that got lost last year. The fact that they haven’t played Ghost since Chicago is a great example of this.

I was thinking the same thing earlier today. There is something about this tour that reminds me of the “days of yore” or something to that effect. It has to do with the reason that people actually toured with them. It wasn’t the party, or the drugs, etc… It was the whole mystery surrounding a Phish show. You just never knew what to expect from night to night. And you felt like you were definately missing out on something if you didn’t make it to a show.
Would the show you missed be the one where they play Dark Side in it’s entireity? Is the next show the one where they bustout Whipping Post? Is tonight the night that we get a Harpua/Gamehendge? You just don’t know.
And that is something that I love about this band. Last summer was something of the love fest for band. They were back, and millions of us were happy. Now, I really can’t explain it, but it’s like the band as a whole remembered why they got into this business in the first place and look like they are having a blast doing it. I also see it as sort of their own “thank you” of sorts to us, the fans. Kind of like saying, “hey, we’ve been through some dark times together, but we got our stuff together again, so lets have some fun!”

I don’t know, maybe I’m just waxing nostalgic or something. But there are many things about this summer tour that just remind me of why I fell in love with this band.

show of life, and summer of 89 are my favs

and burn that bridge when that shows up

Summer of '89

When I heard Cold Water in person I wasn’t such a fan, but after a few listens I’m a fan.

last nights show

Mike leading the band.

All of this. Plus I like Idea, Dr. Gabel, and Summer of 89. So pretty much all of it really.

You summed it up almost perfectly Chris…

The band is having FUN again…Anything is possible now, ANYTHING… :stuck_out_tongue:

My fav things for 2010:

Mike is LOUD as hell and leading the music like never before
CK5 has new colors
Mystery Theater Phish is back (never know whats gonna happen!!)
The Rover
20 Years Later Type 2
TTE’s progression

I’ve liked every new song that I’ve heard. Hell, I’ve honestly liked every 3.0 song I’ve heard…except Summer of '89. I just don’t know what to say about that one. That and Secret Smile are both not songs that I understand why Phish plays. Like I think Trey has pretty good taste in music, and I don’t think that he would even like Summer of '89 if he didn’t write it.

I like Halfway to the Moon the best. Idea would be my favorite if it were rehearsed a bit more. The only thing I dislike from this tour is Summer of 89. I like all the covers thus far too.

I like that Clark is waxing in 2010.

I like all of the new covers.

Outside of new phish tunes, I think it is nice to have a bunch of other new stuff to look forward to as well.

dr gabel i found real annoying. i do like summer of 89 though.
