thanks man nothing beats being able to have a good conversation with your mom about your favorite band
Europe 97 and Japan 2000!? Your mom is the best!
serious…If my mom took me to 60% of the Phish shows played since I was 9 I think I wouldn’t have moved out!
Im gonna call BS on that one.
call it what you will curiousgeorge why would i lie about something like that? why would i need to impress a bouch of people i will never see or meet by just lying and saying ive been at 300 shows
just think about it
bwp is right 12-29 2nd is the best set p.h. better shows, sure. but that set is right up there all-time.
(211 shows, '93-'04 incl. europe 97)
I’m so glad to hear everyone loves miami as much as I do. I drove from Fargo, ND with my best girl-friend patricia, and it was the best week of my life. The 28th adn 30th were absolutey stellar, but the 29th topped it all. That night was the craziest! First of all, I ate a gigantic cap at set break, which made the whole second set mold together even more than it Actually did. Then, afterwards, we walked around some crazy, evil circus carnival thing, laughing our asses off!!! only to get lost in downtown miami at 2 in the morning surrounded by bums sleeping on the sidewalks–that was a creepy moment. Back to the show–I just think it’s so sweet when mike and fish pick up that twist jam (which has an awesome opening of 2.5 minutes) and mike just starts ripping it up all the way into boogie on. I’ve never felt more energy than during that divided sky!!! And that free is the best post-hiatus without a doubt. Also, the first set doesn’t get enought credit. Besides anything but me, everything is tight, especially the piper opener.
But, other post-hiatus shows that blew my mind were 7.19.03, parts of 6.23.04 adn 6.24.04, 6.25.04, and 8.11.04
My favorite is 8.11.04.
8/11/04 is an awesome show good choice
yea 8/11/04 is a badass show, the seconds set gets me everytime
7-29-03
“Crosseyed and Painless” jam.
02-21-03
first night of Cincy was pretty freakin’ schweet.
it’s hard to believe that nobody mentioned this show:
Friday, February 21, 2003
U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, OH
Set I: Wilson > Frankenstein, Down with Disease, Lifeboy, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Run Like An Antelope, I Didn’t Know
Set II: Mike’s Song -> Free > Waste -> Also Sprach Zarathustra, Harry Hood, All of These Dreams, Possum > Cavern
Encore: Wading in the Velvet Sea
Show Notes: Lifeboy was played for the first time since November 25, 1998 (129 shows). I Didn’t Know included some dancing antics from Trey, Page, and Mike, while Fishman took his vacuum solo. 2001 included teases of Stash, as well as Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”
Thatts what the tease is in 2001!! thankyou!! I’ve been wondering what that was for a while. A Bach Song!!
This show is definitely high energy, and a solid show. Many people call it sloppy though, and it is in some parts–that doesn’t automaticallly mean it is a bad show though. Most people prefer the next night. I think the last three shows of that tour (2.26, 2.28, 3.1) are all better…the band was on fire as that tour progressed
Cinci was my first post hiatus shows. 2/21 was alright, kind of sloppy and prodding at points I felt. Plus, for me, it was overshadowed by the next night a ton. I guess that hotel fire lit the candle under their ass
i saw the night before 2/20 (Chicago) and both Cincy shows (02-21 and 02-22) and the first night of Cincy was my fav. Had a great time at all of them but I don’t remeber the 02-21 being over shadowed by much.
Also Sprach Zarathustra is a Richard Strauss tune (1896) not Bach.
^ He was talking about the tease of “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” in 2001. By Bach.
oh shit sorry.
been talkin’
to Sampson…my bad
Star Lake '03 by far, Miami NYE, Vegas '04, Gorge '03, Cinnci 2-21-03, deer creek everytime i’ve been
top shows post-hiatus for me:
2/28/03 (second set is just sick)
2/21/03 (great energy and i love the mike’s to open the 2nd)
7/29/03 (bust-outs, CAMEL WALK!! and solid playing all around)
12/28/03-12/31/03 (best multi-show run by far, arguably the best show 12/29 came out of it)
6/25-6/26/04 (good shows with some GREAT moments)
but my favorite (not necessarily the best overall show) is 6/24/05, solid first set, loving cup opener, disease->rock n’ roll ripped. but i would rate it my fav simply because of the tube and antelope that started the second set, best antelope post-hiatus by far, just raging!
I was at 2.28.03 Nassau and it was one of the sickest shows ever. you could have replaced destiny w/ anything else and it still would be an overall great show!
Thats my pick…
