FAVORITE POST-HIATUS SHOW

Don’t get your panties in a bunch George…I would have made the same joke if you were a woman…

Panties ?

another gay joke ? I think I’m missing somthing here…

The thread takes a turn for the worse!

I just had no idea this was a gay bashing board.

Yet again, more petty squabbling out of nowhere.
At least this time I’m not involved!

yeah this thread got turned around in a hurry.

Back to the topic…

I attended 4, and my vote goes to 6-24-04 (and I was at 7-29-03!!) for sheer emotional purposes. I KNEW it would be the last time (right? RIGHT?) I would see Phish, so I had to soak it all in. They didn’t disappoint with a solid set I. Set II opened with solid versions of “Tube” and “Antelope.” The encore just seemed so fitting…

But of all the ones that were played, even counting those I didn’t attend, I would vote for either 2/28/03 (encore notwithstanding) or 12/30/03 (“now that’s funky!”).

12/30 was the weakest of the 4 night run. I call it a very fun show, filled with novelties, and it definitley is worthy of good show status, but in no way can it stand up against great shows. 12/29/03 was the meat and potatoes that run as far as musically played, but that entire run was an exercise in fun…somthing Phish was all about in previous years, but lacked during post-hiatus…and I’ve heard every post-hiatus show.

I can’t believe I’m being accused of being homophobic on this board! I have plenty of gay friends and none of them would be offended by what I said…Sorry if I offended you George… How was I supposed to know that you were gay? I was not meaning to bash…whichever way you swing is cool with me.

Please, please, can we all just kiss and make up? :-*

Sorry, couldn’t resist…

But here’s my asshole *

Just kidding, here’s my OPINION:

Camden 03 kicked ass
SPAC 04 kicked ass
I even thought Coney Island 04 kicked ass…maybe I’m not a very good critic when it comes to Phish…and maybe I should put this in the other thread but fuck it…I gotta say if you don’t have fond memories of those opening Brooklyn shows, then you probably weren’t there. Both nights were great. Moma -> Free as mentioned…Jigga…comeon! Hova!..and I hope they get the closing Tweeprise on that DVD because I’ve never seen a more eerie, smoky, crazy blob of light and doom during a Phish song (or anyone’s song).

In fact I just looked through the setlists again, and there are only like 2 songs (one each night) that I didn’t find extremely enjoyable (and yes they were Nothing and Crowd Control).

i am sorry curiousgeorge i would have to disagree with you about 12/30 being the weekest of the run. Maybe you just didnt listen to the first set. the sand is easily the best sand ever played and it segued perfectly into shafty and then right into nicu and then to top it off
imo one of the best bathtun gins ever played, up there with the 7/30 98 version
but maybe you werent at the show, i just dont know the tube>la woman>boaf>la women rocked too

I was at the run. Lets not confuse novelty for greatness.

First, the Sand was cool and all, but it saw better days in 99’. Far from the best version.

Shafty was unexpected and cool.

NICU…wow…like I didn’t see see that 4.2 thousand times already, and really, what seperates that veriosn from any other.

the whole LA woman thing was cool…as a novelty. It was far from being a musical standout.

P-funk was fun…but was it really mind-blowing ? hell no.

second set 12/29 was the meat of the run.

12/30 was fun…it was a good show, but nothing spectacular.

But im realizing that there are many people on this board who really haven’t hear all that much… or enough to distinguish.

WOW! Great assesment. couldn’t have said it any better! curiousgeorge is right on point.

However, remember that ignorance is not a crime.

yea i agree with you on the nicu but the seque was nice i also agree on the 2nd set of 12/29
because the twist>boogie on>ghost>free was awesome
i was actually at the 6/26 alpine show and when trey hit that one chord in boogie on i wrote the ghost and free in on my notebook and the guy next to me in the 5th row looked at me and laughed and said "what are you going you cant predict that and sure enough i was right
out of the all the shows ive seen that was one of the first time i predicted 3 songs in a row

and of you were hinting to me that i havent heard enough i would say you are wrong ive seen 300 plus phish shows in my 20 years and i know what im talking about
"if that was towards me or not

You’re only 20 years old and you’ve seen 300 Phish shows?! Either you’re Mike’s secret son, or you have the coolest parents ever.

my mom is from burlington and she took me to many shows when I was young my first was when i was 9,by the time i was 12 i had already seen 75 showsbut i really didnt start gettiing into them untill i was about 13 or 14, i was homeschooled so it made it easy for me to go to plenty of shows. We even went to europe in 96 97 and 98. and we went to japan in 2000

so i may be young but ive been to plenty of shows including everyshow from 98-2000 and everyshow after hiatus so think what you will

OK, the music wasn’t the best, but for shows that I was at… I think I had the most fun at Vegas in 04… I didn’t sleep for three days, and somehow never really noticed… Vegas is fucking sweet…

yea the vegas run musicly is pretty good but without kuroda and trey being sick kinda broght it down a couple notches for me but i still had a pretty good time

thanks man nothing beats being able to have a good conversation with your mom about your favorite band

Europe 97 and Japan 2000!? Your mom is the best!

serious…If my mom took me to 60% of the Phish shows played since I was 9 I think I wouldn’t have moved out!
