~Favorite skiing locales~

of all the places i’ve been skiing, i think Vermont is my favorite. have had some great times there.

I don’t ski. I made it about half-way up the t-bar once and then slid down face first halfway down this hill…that’s when I called it quits.

I’ve never been skiing outside of New England, so VT is my fave. Jay. Okemo. Stowe. Smuggs.

Personally I live in the east so I have a pass at Smugglers Notch, My sister lives near Summit county so I ski Vail/Basin/copper/breck/keystone Quite a bit but my alltime faves would have to be Big Mountain in Montanna and # most badass place in the world Kicking Horse in B.C

Oh yeah what do you all have for sticks, Last year I got a most badass pair of HEAD mojo 90’s 176’s by far the sickest ski I have ever been on, Nice and fat but still great on east coast crud and hardpack…unparallelled in the woods (except for maybe last years supermojos)

I am dying to ski at Whistler/Blackcomb. Over 8000 acres, making it larger than anywhere in the US. Long cruising blues, and lots of bowl action for the powder. I also love trees and it is loaded with em!

4133 vf of Dom Perignon

^Not to mention mean Elk osso bucco and a great wine list at the summet lodge (no burger n fries up there)

after lookin over some trail maps, in colorado it looks like the places with the most diverse terrain are keystone and steamboat. anyone agree? also looked into a few of the utah resorts, looks like they have some great mountains over there such as alta and the highly touted brighton resort, with what they call the best snow in the world. hmmmm…

^Vail is the mother of diverse terrain, between blue sky basin, all the bowls it is horozontally one of the most impressivly diverse places you could ever go… It would take you weeks to ski everything from Game Creek Bowl all the way over to Outer mongolia. I have skied both Kestone and Steamboat a ton and Vail takes the cake

Well, it looks like there are two of you here on the OKP who are into skiing…and one of you just had a total hip replacement. I guess the OKP Ski Team is finishing last again this year. (Fluffy is a redshirt.)

^How is the hip doing? Are you able to ski this year? It seems really soon…

I went to a ski resort place once. Angel Fire in New Mexico. I was able to borrow a snowboard from a friend and bring it with me. I fell so many times…so hard. It was really a beautiful place though. The lift just kept going and going and going.

eh, have to travel a bit to far to ski often enough to own ski’s

gone a few times, had a fun time when i’ve gone, but the conditions are never great, guess thats what you get going to places that make their own snow, god damn slippery ice is what they make, you try to carve and just slip along the ice, dangerous shit really

Just went to my 6 week post op, no cane, no pain, no more meds, rockin PT 3x a week Doc says I should be ready for March 1st

Park City, Snowbird, Alta

I fell in love with a mountain and her name is Alta. Vail is freakin’ huge, very diverse terrain. Loves me a day at Sunday River, plently if room to get away from the crowds.

West>East=ice<pow

^go north in the east and the ice fades…Smugs, stowe, Jay, Sugarloaf…get north of White river junction and you will be suprised at how consistantly good year to year the snow is…

of course the loaf is in Me but the bush and mad river also qualify as sweet

i’ve only been snowboarding a few times. all in north carolina. beech mountain, sugar mountain and hawksnest. all around the boone, nc area.
busted my ass all day everytime.

I’ve never been skiing, but there seems to be plenty of places to go relatively close to here. I’m sure they’re not very good because it’s mostly man made snow, but I definitely wanna try it out when I get the chance.

Smuggs is great in VT…a big mountain resort that is not that crowded.

I’ve only been to The Canyons and Park City in Utah, but The Canyons was definitely better…all terrain is much more accessible than PC.

I’ve only ridden Breckenridge and Keystone in CO, but I preferred Keystone.

After living in Oregon, my favorite mountain is still Bachelor, but I am bias…Squaw Valley is ridiculous if you score it after a big storm.
