Favorite Song

Guelah Papyrus was my first Phish song ever, so that’s always up there…but I would have to go with Tweezer as the best track off of Nectar.

The Mango Song has sketchy meanings but I know for sure it was based off of a line that I believe Trey read in a book, the line was : “Their hands and feet were mangled” which was referring to people being affected by a nuclear bomb I believe. ( I don’t know if that’s true or if I remember it from a dream )

This album SMOKES from beginning to end! Let us not forget Mike’s masterpiece - POOR HEART

I read somewhere that Mango was based on a short-film Trey had seen in college. I guess in the movie a US soldier had a child with a Vietnamese woman during the war and as he was leaving she tried demanding him to take the child, but stepped on a land-mine killing herself and mangling the child. The kid grows up and…well you know.

And for the record, Guelah Papyrus was the first PON song I ever heard and it still holds a special place in my heart for that. The lyrics and emotion just blew me away and I still love it.

Cavern, you guys. All the way.

faht

Guelah Papyrus

Tweezer, no doubt. i dont know how many times ive gotten drunk off my ass at my bros and just listened to this song!!! and my boyfriend doesnt really get into phish, i know, ill beat him later, but the one song he does like is this one, go figure! “Wont you step into the freezer!!!”

landlady and llama but all the others are great this is in my opinion the most well rounded phish album

3 albums are tied for me. Junta, Lawn Boy and PON.
All of PON is great and ripping but I love Stash and Tweezer Reprise, mmmmmmmm

The albums opens w/ my two favorites (from APON), Llama and Eliza.

The Mango Song, because unlike every live version I’ve heard, the vocal harmonies are in tune (it’s why I wish there was a studio version of Tela as well). This is one of my favorite Phish songs.

Also Cavern, because unlike almost every live version I’ve heard, Trey doesn’t forget any of the lyrics.

Stash is definately my favorite

“Chalkdust Torture”

Mango song…
Memories…

Alpine - marshmellow war…way to much fun

yes. Llama, Chalkdust, Mango, Tweezer Reprise are standouts on an excellent album but “Poor Heart” is the one.

The little four-note ascending guitar lick after “you won’t steal my poor heart again” in the first full chorus is just perfect.

^^agreed, Mango Song all the way

First post ever, thought it a good place to start.

Chalkdust is my fav by the boys ever, so I’m leaning that way. However, I’ve never heard Llama “pop” live the way it does in this studio version. Kudos to Halpin for making Fish’s drums sound better than his ability would normally allow them.

i gotta go with mango if we’re just talking the album version. i like the whole thing though. the tweezer ending is really cool.

Mango Song…and more recently, I’ve been infatuated with Guelah Papyrus

Stash/Chalkdust Torture reign supreme but theyre all great really. Even Manteca.
