i’ve always liked “theme” alot, but if i had to pick it’d be taste. fishman is sick. and once again, gordon plays some great things on there.

this is the hardest question ive answered in a while. there are only a couple songs on this album i dont like, mainly character zero(never really like the poppy sound it had) iwould go with billy breathes, then train song, free, waste, taste, theme from the bottom, prince caspian, swept away…damn

i love this entire cd but i would definitly pick waste as my favorite. Heard it few time live and once trey and dave mathews do it acoustic. acoustic version was great. made up for sitting through a dave and friends show
very tough… i’m gonna have to go with billy breathes. That solo is so beautiful, a masterpiece in itself.

Free…quite simply, it rocks.
I love TFTB too though, and while I appreciate the sentiment that some folks touched on, I prefer my Caspians to be of the live variety (especially the tiny Caspian reprise at the end)…
The title track - a studio masterpiece.
i have a mix i made of my favorite studio phish. for the billy breathes section it goes
bliss>swept away>steep>caspian
bliss>billy flows good but bliss>swept away feels better to me. plus i think billy would go well after train song.
the happy floaty zen feel of bliss then right into swept away. swept away has this depressing quality to me that is relieved when it gets to the “finally swept away” lyrics. it’s a nice little ride through different emotions to listen to it in that order. the only thing that would make it better is if that deep bass note that starts billy was at the end of bliss instead.
Gotta say Free, but Caspian in close second. This is probably my favorite studio album
