“Army of One”… Give me a Page song any day and I will be happy.
Grind, genius.
Scents and Subtle Sounds (intro and main song).
Is it just me, or is SASS not the same without the intro portion? It seems like I heard somewhere when they do it live, they omit the intro part. I just love the interweaving vocal part, and hey, it’s Tom Marshall’s first appearance on an official Phish studio album!
My favorite song is easliy SASS. During summer '03 when they first started playing it they always played the intro and usually segued out of another jam which made it even better. For some reason they started leaving off the intro which I always thought took away from the song but, oh well.
Also liked Nothing a lot, and for some reason i really enjoyed the new string compsosition of secret smile even though i always hated hearing it at a show.
Icculus: that antelope>2001>golgi really was sick wasnt it? def one of my favorite parts of the tour. The jam in 2001 kicked ass!!!
GRIND!!! nuff said hahaha
My favorite track is probably “Nothing”. I don’t know why… it might have something to do with the sound of Page’s electric piano.
Army of One is the tune that does it for me here… very emotional.
mmmm, page.
Access Me…that song mirrors a situation i was having with a girl i was seeing…it was sooo wierd. the line “the first time i came over i was bitten by your dog” actually happened to me.
Mike rules…PERIOD
I love Army of One. Page gets his time to shine and i believe he was definately the brightest. That is a great song. Musicly and lyricly. KUDOS PAGE!!!
A song I heard the ocean sing or Nothing. Or Undermind.
Ok so I can’t really pick one.
Nothing and Access Me are what do it for me on this album, Access Me especially, I just love the way the words flow in it, and its got that clever comedy thing going for it too. It’s a shame those two songs only got played once in the live setting, I would have loved to hear them.

Wow… I can’t choose one from this album… SASS, SIHOC, Access Me, Grind, all great.
I’ve only listened to this all the way through once, but I really don’t mind The Connection…Other than that I would have to choose Army of One…it really stands out as GREAT Page.
access me, grind and undermind…
i dig the whole album…actually
there are NO favorites on this album…
just a dyeing phish…
dam this band, dam human ego!!
Indeed.
Undermind is definitely one of my favorite albums, and I’m sick of people bashing it because it’s not the Phish sound of old. Sure, that groove-ability from pre-hiatus albums might not be present in every song on this album, but the album is pleasing to the ears. Isn’t that what music is supposed to be anyways?
Now, back to the question at hand.
I’d have to say Undermind, Army of One, Crowd Control, Nothing, both SASSes, and Grind stick out as my favorite tunes (w/o saying the whole album kicks ass).
Don’t own the album yet, but I have heard “Nothing” on www.livephish.com quite a bit, and I love it. It’s incredibly beautiful and has a nice jam at the end. Page is especially great. Just a nice melody overall!!
I haven’t listened to this album as much as it deserves, but Nothing is a really great song…
^
yeah, I heard it again on LivePhish.com and my god, it’s so beautiful. I wish they would jam it out to 10-12 minutes. I saw the Deer Creek '04 one but was, for some reason, unimpressed. Damn! Possibly my favorite “new post-hiatus Phish song”
