Scents and subtle sounds… I was treated to part 1 AND part 2 together at Alpine Valley in 2003. It is still, to this day one of my favorite live cd’s.
scents and subtle sounds is a good tune. i heard them play both parts at IT. heard it again at spac summer of 2004. i always heard alpine valley is a cool place. never got the chance to hit up the creek and the valley but wish i had.
So people actually like Nothing? I dunno, I just think the main lyrics are so awkward. Ensconced does not belong in a song this simple. It sounds like the kind of thing Stephen Malkmus would toss in at random to impress me (and it would work too. I hate a heterosexual mancrush on him. <3 )

Undermine is my favorite, I think that if it had been written 15 years ago it would be a phan favorite

The Sense and Subtle Sounds intro starts off the album on a great note.
NOTHING is a catchy tune which is very Beatlesque in my opinion. However it is closest to the classic Phish sound which is an original creation all its own.
i’d have to go w/ "Nothing " too. Great song. ive listended to the brooklyn version many times…

I have always thought this album was really great and had a ton of potenial live. Scents, Army of One, Song I Heard the Ocean Sing, Crowd Control I think are all great. My fav is crowd controll though. The jam they have on the DVD with that song which comes with the CD is amamzing it turned me on to that song. I was pumped as hell when I got to see them play it. I thought it could have been great live with a few more year to develop.
Access Me…It’s one of the only tracks that isn’t weighed down by the iminent demise of my phavorite band…Scents is sweet teet also.

A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing is my favorite, because when I’m usually in a dark mood if I listen to Undermind, and ashitos embodies the graveness I want to hear.
However, Undermind gets an honorable mention for the playful lyrics, and SaSS too for the it’s strength as a composition.
