Favorite War Movie?

Does Red Dawn count as a war movie? That’s a classic 80’s movie. I just Deer Hunter here today from Netflix.

I think Ian wins this one.

Platoon
Saving Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
Hamburger Hill

and HBO’s Band of Brothers is just amazing.

I would put Platoon first. I’ve loved that movie for a long time. I’d have to say Full Metal Jacket is a better movie, but Platoon is my personal favorite.

never so few
the sand pebbles
THE GREAT ESCAPE

find the theme?

“Gettysburg”

Just outstanding!

i want to see that. i always ignored the civil war for some reason.

Good ol’ Steve McQueen.

The Towering Inferno rules your face!

Yeah, I’m surprised noone has mentioned Glory yet. Also another classic war picture, with Ferris Broderick not Broadway Broderick.

^ i shit you not, my highschool economics teacher is in that film. the civil war rules! here’s to another!

but…but i thought you always ignored the civil war.

whatever.

WHATEVER!!

i say saving private ryan.

steakbone titties, thom.

YOU HEAR ME???

I have only seen it once, recently, but thought “Casualties of War” with Mike Fox was pretty good.

The only war movie

Band of Brothers, hands down my favorite.

^ Good call on Band of Brothers.
What a series that was.

^^^Casualties of War is fantastic as well.
Sean Penn was pretty good in that. Sad story though.

I like:

A Thin Red Line
All Quiet On The Western Front
Born on the Fourth of July
Johnny Got His Gun

a thin red line (crazy cinematography)
saving private ryan (opening scene)
platoon (the worm has turned for you my friend) the tracks of my tears, what a scene
full metal jacket (i didn’t know they stacked shit that high)

top gun (cold war) J/K but not really (i’ll hit the brakes, fly right by him)

apocalypse now (redux) (if I say it’s safe to surf this beach, it’s safe to surf this beach, i love the smell of napalm in the morning)

Paton

a bunch of others

^
Yeah, the opening scene to SPR was jaw-dropping.

Up to that point, I just thought the Allies casually strolled up to the beach, set up post, and marched inland to find the enemy.

I didn’t realize they were sitting ducks.

Nice call! I forgot about these. +22,200 hits on the first one, damn.
