Fenway Cover Songs

It seems like these are the most talked about potential cover songs for Fenway. Which do you think is the most likely?

None of these, you fool.

^yeah, that’s really where my money would be if there were money on it.

I don’t get why people would think that Phish would cover Sweet Caroline. I mean Cracklin Rosie is already part of their repetiore. I don’t see them performing two Neil Diamond songs. Regardless, they are all a bit too obvious and I don’t think their first show of the tour is going to be very heavy on covers.

^I think the only one that would be remotely possible is Foreplay/Longtime, but I’m not expecting anything from this list. I’ve just seen these songs pop up in people’s “fantasy setlists”

Hell, I think they’ll open Fenway with “Foreplay/Longtime.”

^My bowels would empty instantly if that happened. A tight, rehearsed version of Foreplay/Long Time would be superb

Was anybody aware of 07/12/1999 when they voted here?

^I wasn’t aware of the soundcheck part, but that’s pretty awesome.

07-12-99 Tweeter Center, Mansfield, MA

Soundcheck: My Best Friend’s Girlfriend (The Cars), Centerfold (J. Giels Band), Dream On (Aerosmith), Rift

1:Foreplay/Long Time* -> Down with Disease, Get Back on the Train, What’s the Use, Split Open and Melt, Water in the Sky, Character Zero (1:12)

2: Twist, The Moma Dance, Makisupa Policeman** -> David Bowie, Lizards, Guyute# (1:14)

E: Rock and Roll (0:08)

*Electric. **Keyword was “stink kind”; Trey on small keyboard. #Followed by band introductions (Mike: “Michael ‘Soft G’ Jordan”); Mike broke a string at the beginning of the song.

^ Lots of crossover hey? First set DWD and Character Zero set 1 ender, mid-second set David Bowie and the Moma Dance taboot.

I guess not that many songs cross over, but it’s interesting to compare.

that was a fantastic show. i remember trying to figure out the name of the opening song with my friends and the people around us because none of us were particularly fond of the band boston, but we at least recognized it was one of their songs.

This is how it ended up. http://www.bostonmusicspotlight.com/article.php?id=2247 how bout the new stuff huh?
