Food thread, The

I started one of these on another board and it kinda grew legs and walked on its own… it may keel over and die but who cares! Anyway the idea is just to talk about FOOG… I’m mean food… I love food, you love food… we could have something here. So say whatever, what your eating, what you ate, your favorites, good recipies… ditto.

So I had oatmeal for breakfast… but it was no ordinary oatmeal as I added half a sliced banana and some chopped cashews with salt and milk. What made it tho was my freshly made, freshly purchased pure NH maple syrup. YUM! Its maple syrup season here in New England. I went to a sugar house over the weekend and watched them boil the sap and draw it off and tasted the hot fresh stuff… man this stuff is sugary gold. I also ate half a tin of tuna with my oatmeal… I have a taste for oatmeal and tuna ::slight_smile: Topped it all off with “Good Earth” chai tea… which has these little sayings on the tea bag. Todays saying: “In mathematics you don’t understand things. You just get used to them.” Johann von Neuman (1903-1957). The dates make it authentic. Now in the words of Teh Great Clete: Discuss!

I love fried chicken.

^SEE! Seee that!.. Its a beautiful thing!

Well let me ask you my man… do you prefer watermelon with that?

no, i actually prefer some form of rice and gravy, biscuits, and beans/peas. I’m a soouuuuuuuul man

Maybe watermelon as dessert? Anyway how do you aquire a hot plate of the aforementioned delicacy? Is it you are a KFC junky or do you fry at home… or both?

Anyway my dectective Watson-like prowess is shining thru…

no, actually there are restaraunts that serve these type of dishes.

I love how it has just been a conversation between teh dude and goldphish. Anyway I had some grilled chicken tacos with lettuce, green chiles, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole all on some grilled soft tortillas.

Ah yes… well I guess I don’t get out much… still if your interested you could make all the fried goodies you want with one of these:

My grandmother used to make some mean french fries with one of these ;D

You know whats good?

God bless ya, sir. I just had some fine wings from, believe it or not, Tubby’s submarine. They’re obviously known for subs but the chicken wings are just awesome…they’re terribly bad for ya but who cares???

Personally, I’m partial to the Mexican food. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesidillas, all that good stuff…I love it. It’s an absolute travesty that all the Chi Chi’s restaurants where I live have closed up…

Sniff…

Stevo

^^Will, right when I opened this thread I was counting the posts to see how long it took for a picture of chili to make its first appearance.

I love anything chicken, it’s great. I probably eat too much of it, but it’s damn good. Anything HOT and SPICY, I LOVE. If it’s not hot or spicy, I make hot and spicy by adding LOTS of Tabasco.

I had some homemade buscuits and gravy yesterday that was delicious…the sausage gravy was so tasty. Um.

I prefer jewish soul food. I’ll prolly down a corn beef or pastrami sandwhich on rye with matzah ball soup sometime this weekend. I did make fried Matzah for breakfast this morn and dam it was tasty. Shabbat Shalom yall!

i love bread. this summer my dad and i might build a brick oven and bake up some great bread.

Hey Stevo, was there a big backlash at Chi Chi’s restaurants in your area because of food poisoning? Pretty much all of the Chi Chi’s in my area of Pittsburgh got closed because there was something wrong with their meat or something. It doesn’t really bother me because I wasn’t a big Chi Chi’s fan.

For good Mexican food, there’s a place called the Franklin Inn. It’s a great little restaurant close to me. The movie Dogma was filmed inside of it, which is cool. I’m not sure what scene (I haven’t actually seen the whole thing), but I am positive it was filmed there.

^very cool… some of you probably know about this but there used to be a weekend festival every August in Glover VT called Bread and Puppet. They were a travelling circus of sorts with really big puppets and people on stilts and what not… usually acting out various anti-establishment antics. One of the features were these big brick ovens where they would bake bread for the masses.

^Sorry if I was a little unbreezy in my previous posts… sometimes I can’t remain inside myself…

I love food. It tastes good.

threadjacking this into a Pictures of Food thread.

i want some of that bread.

Beer…is food right?
