How can no one have anything to say about this song? One of my top three favorites.
my top three versions of ghost: IT, 5-22-00 RCHM, and 11-17-97 Denver. its really a tossup between IT and the RCMH version. both are just so bass saturated and beautiful soloing by trey. ahhhhhhhhh sssssssssssssssssssuch a great song.
My favorite Phish song, hands down.
I have been digging the Island tour version for the past few days. I think the IT version may be my favorite though.
11-17-97 is one of the greatest. 97 was the best ghost years imo.
ditto. i love it. it gots Tha Spook!
I just caught the one from Vegas 03’ on live phish. You can tell they are rusty as Hell, but holy shit this jam smokes.
12-11-97 is one of my all time favortie versions of this tune. An amazing Ghost> DWDPrise> Johnny B. Goode.
Be on the look out for it if you don’t have it, it’s a great one!
Still my favorite. I need the god damn album…
Yeah, me too. I only need to get Story of a Ghost, and then Lawn Boy. I got all the others before I got into their live stuff. It’s weird for me thinking that I listened to studio Phish for about a year before I even heard them live.
Lawn Boy > SOTG
I just listened to IT again for the first time in a while. I used to listen to it all the time. Its amazing how great that Ghost is when you haven’t heard it recently.
True but I still don’t think I can call the IT Ghost the best ever.
This is one of the Phish songs where it is truly difficult to pin down the greatest version of all-time.
I have been listening to a lot of post-hiatus for the first time now that it is on etree, and the 2.26.03 Ghost has quickly moved up my list. The jam is a smoker, then all of a sudden you are in the middle of Low Rider. Nice.
I haven’t heard that many of the great Ghosts but so far my favorite is 11/28/97.
Damn, I haven’t heard a single BAD or even average Ghost. They tore it up the fuck up whenever they played Ghost!! Funky, rocking, spacey…everything I love about Phish.
Wonder where the new Phil & Trey Ghost will rank? I am so excited to hear this now… WEEEEEE
Normally I am in the same school of thought. But if I recall, there is a PH version that is completely and utterly ordinary. It just flat out does not do anything.
I guess there’s the infamous 10/31/98 “Ghost.” They get a nice little upbeat groove going before They end it. UNDER 10 minutes! Gotta be the shortest live “Ghost” ever. Gotta be.
