glowstick question

At the GRAB show I saw when they were coming out for the encore someone just fucking nailed Mike with this huge glowstick. I mean he did not even see it coming. He looked kinda pissed. It must have hurt. It was in Raleigh by the way. I remeber seeing Trey get hit a lot at Hampton.

If you listen to the 7 below from that show you hear him bring out his guitar tech. I think thats cause a glowstick hit looping pedal in his rig and fucked somthing up, and he was to fucked up to fix it so his tech had to come out and do it. My friends and I were off to Mike’s side right on the rail of the stands so we really had a great veiw of what was happening. If you listen to the tapes you can hear that loop going no where for a minute or so before the tech comes out.

I love the glowrings, but the glowsticks suck. They don't distract me form the music but it sucks watching the band knowing they are worried about getting hit, and worrying that some ass is going to hit them.

The Phish show I am reffering to is 08/09/04

why would anyone in their right mind throw ANYTHING in the general direction of the stage? I always throw behind me or at the very least directly to the left or right of me.

Drugs, sell drugs not glowsticks.

Drugs don’t hurt people, glowsticks hurt people

If you’re far enough back that you know that there is no way for you to hit the stage, then it’s all right.

NEVER!!!

haha good times!!

^Any good pictures?

remember those REALLY bright orange one’s. Like REALLY REALLY bright.

I do.

STFU!!

I’ve been in a few pretty solid glowstick wars. My first major one was during 2001 on 12/2/99 (just a magical show for all who went). One of my friends caught one and, without trying, flung it onto Page’s piano and it made a nice sound when it hit. He was REALLY embarassed and wasn;t intending to hit the stage at all…I told him that it’d be best to just throw it backwards away from the stage.

One thing I have noticed that is that in recent years a lot of people have gone away from the super-thick glowsticks which make you fear for your life when you see them. Everyone seems to be shifting to the pencil-thin ones which is nice. It’s good to see glowstick trends take a turn for the positive.

And spare me on this “it ruins the music” crap. If you’ve been part of a good glowstick war then you remember it…for a long time.
