I wish Mike Lowell would play ss, Youk to 3rd, Papi at 1st. Eliminates this whole mess. Sox in 5 at the most.
I really don’t see them sitting Ortiz.
You can’t take his bat out of the lineup. You just can’t.
On a side note, I thought James Taylor’s rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” was quite good.
^Much better than Steven Tyler, that’s for sure!
The ONLY plus of having Ortiz on the bench is bringing him in to pinch hit late, and choosing which pitcher you’d like him to face. If a lefty starts, he won’t.
Good point. I never thought of it that way.
Either way the Rockies need to get their bats in gear and start hitting the damn baseball. They’ve struck out 22 times the first two games.
They hit ~.220 in the NLCS, and have been on a stark decline statistically since the end of the season, yet kept winning. Their hot streak will be seen as an aberration in the history books. I really can’t help but feel confident for the Soxies.
And has anyone sent their thanks to Jacoby Ellsbury for providing free tacos for everyone! Woo-hoo, a no cost anal eruption!
I have a feeling Dice-K can pull off a good outing tomorrow night. He’s gotten thru the pressure of a game 7 and has to feel pretty good about that. Now its onto the big stage and time to shine… I’m excited to see if he can pull it off. If not then I hope he’s pulled early and give it to the bullpen and the bats. Its a must win for teh rox but like yall said they’ve got to hit and that hasn’t happened.
Yeah, this should have been the leadoff story on Sportscenter. I love how the crowd just ERUPTED when he stole that base…almost as much as if he’d stolen home. That takes me back to old Pistons games where we’d get a free taco if they’d score 100 points. The crowd would just riot when that 100th point went down. Sadly the free Taco is only on October 30th…they put it that far back so people forget by next week. I won’t forget…I know where I’m having lunch next Tuesday.
And yeah…watching those first two games reminded me of 2004. The Sawks rally from behind to win the ALCS then face an overmatched NL who has no idea that they’re running into a total buzzsaw. If the Rockies had any shot at winning, they needed to win last night. I don’t think the pick-off of Holliday really mattered…they weren’t getting another hit.
The worse thing is since the national sports media has a major East Coast you’ll have tons of Boston-biased reporters ranting about what an amazing sports town it is with the Sawks winning, the Pats dominating and The Celtics having KG (I love how they all assume that the Celtics are back despite not playing a game yet). And of course this is with all of them ignoring the fact that the Bruins are basically dead in that town. Meanwhile, Detroit teams went nuts in 2006 but no one really mentioned it. If you hate Boston now, you’re going to hate them even more later.

^That’s awesome, in a dirty sort of way.
tic toc tic toc

This could be the night. Anticipation and smiles all around Red Sox Nation.
Jesus Christ this year’s playoffs and World Series especially has been such a snooze-fest.
good for the Red Sox blah blah blah
yep, colorado really shit the bed in the WS
Man, I just lost some money, and no i didn’t pick the rockies to win. I put money on the red sox bleeding into the grey pants.
I guess you didn’t watch the alcs…
The Rockies laid a big stinky fart. They didn’t even have a lead the whole series.
I will say this. If the Rockies even so much as make the playoffs next year I will eat a live chicken!*
*chicken must be slaughtered, feathered, skinned and roasted in a smooth cranberry chutney and white wine demi-glaze before being consumed.
well, thank god that’s over.
ahhhhhhhhhh whohooooooooooooo!!!
Congrats to the Red Sox. They are the best team in baseball, and deserve all the honors as such.
