Morning. Am spending the day at my company office today and it almost feels like a day off because I’m not subjected to constant interruptions by the customers I have to service with my vast knowledge and pleasing demeanor. ::gaks::
But I had a minor illucidation yesterday in an email exchange with Ellis Godard, the director of the Mockingbird Foundation. I had contacted him after reading the Chris Bertolet article that Gamecat posted here on the Pa, to see if he could give me Chris’s email address.
Now I’ve been donating to the Mockingbird on a regular basis over the past whatever years, mostly because I always felt that the availability to Phish’s music, whether it was the cost of shows, or boots, was always underpriced compared to the value it meant to me. So I always had a feeling of owing them in some way for the inordinate amount of pleasure they’ve given me.
So I try to buy things from Dry Goods and donate to the Mockingbird as a self-imposed way to repay some of that debt. And when pre-sale results came out and I was included in the short list of people who received tickets, I wasn’t entirely convinced that it was totally blind luck that afforded me such an honor. I thought maybe that there was some master list of people who supported the group in a continuous manner that were given some preferential treatment when it came to the pre-sale lottery.
Well, yesterday’s exchange with Ellis definitely disproved this theory. If anyone deserved preferential treatment getting tickets it’s Ellis, his wife, Kristen, Charlie Dirksen, Dan Hantman, and Chris Bertolet, but it just doesn’t happen, at least not for Ellis and Kristen. He was shut out like the vast majority of us, and asked me to keep him in mind in case I had any extras if Marie backed out of wanting to go.
So I have a much broader respect for my unbelievable good fortune in the pre-sale results, and will consider that luck carefully if Marie decides not to go. btw, being the mercenary she is, and not by any stretch a believer in Phish music and all of what that means, she wants me to sell her tickets for as much as I can get for them if she decides not to go.
You just can’t trust anyone who’s not a true fan, even if you love them to death.

I think the petition idea rocked and I hope we get the simulcast out of it… I know they have to announce that a few months prior as some theaters are booked with movies and whatnot 6-8 weeks in advance…
Well, anyhow, hope the day treats all well!
Actually, I get up at 5 to be to work at 6:30. More time to talk to vendors on the East coast. Plus, I get out of here at 3-3:30.

Girl in my office is on your turf right now and keeps sending me pics from the penthouse (or so she says) at the Rio. She’s got a $750 a night room comp’d !!!

Just about made it to another weekend. Looking forward to tomorrow because it’s supposed to be cold and rainy in NJ, and that’s going to be cool for two reasons; first, we really need rain, and second, Marie and I will be inclined to work a little inside the house, but generally relax, make some comfort food, play some Wii, and generally horse around a little.
I had just mentioned to her this morning how our lives are much busier than they’ve ever been in the past, so I’m planning on using the bad weather as a means to slow us both down to the point where we stop thinking of things outside of each other.
For you folks that have partners, or even just special friends at the moment, take some time to focus on them this weekend, planning some time just to be with them, doing for them something you know they would enjoy, something a little out of the ordinary, but not flashy or expensive. Turn your heart out for them, getting into how great it feels to love someone and love to make them happy.

trey tonight, WS tommorrow, more than likely it’ll be Sunday as Fone mentioned supposed to be shitty weather tomm in the Philly/Jersey area, so then it’ll be WS Sunday Night, which works well for me, gives me Saturday to rest up.

I debating whether to drive to Saskatoon for a Steve Malkmus show tomorrow night. I LOVE Pavement and if it was Pavement I’d be there in a heartbeat, but I’ve never gotten into Malkmus’ solo stuff. Having said that, if I don’t go, I have nothing going on this weekend other than playing a bit of Rock band and maybe going to the bar. IT doesn’t matter though. It’s MFF bitches!! LEt’s get it on.
