But Mike’s and Bowie both make me wanna stick a fork in my eye. And they play both of them at every damn venue I go to. If I were doing this run, they would be guaranteed repeats at MSG. Shit, if the band was certain I was there, they’d probably play Mike’s and Bowie all 5 nights!
^Everyone knows Mike’s isn’t what it used to be, but I’m still not gonna complain about it…and as for Bowie, I’ve only seen it twice, but the last time I saw it, it blew my mind…end of set 1 in Charleston, I was speechless
^Yeah, Bowie will do that to ya. The first time I saw it (my first show - Bowie>Cities>Bowie) it definitely did it for me. But after the 5 billionth time, it loses it’s luster.
I get what Dooj is saying. Sometimes it just works out that you get the same 5 songs seemingly every show you go to. While I think Divided Sky is one of the most beautiful songs, I get one almost every show and I wouldn’t be sad if I could get through my next 10 or 20 shows without one. Same with Mike’s/Paug, Piper, Sample, Antelope, and Stash. Not that they aren’t great songs and I don’t love them, but I’m just ready for some other songs outta the catalogue that I haven’t seen quite as much. I got that way with YEM for a few years, but now we’re cool again
Morning, all.
Still lots of snow on the ground that’s now turning to ice. Yippee skippee.
Wish I was seeing Phish this weekend. Holt has to work New Year’s Day, so I’ll probably end up asleep by 10 on NYE. Look out!
^Along this line of thinking, Hood has always haunted me at shows. It still remains the song I’ve heard most at the shows I’ve attended, by far. That’s why I was happy to see it on last night’s setlist.
Working from home again today. Although most of the major roads are passable, some sections are still closed. The cleanup from this storm has been terrible, mostly because of the way the snow was being blown around by the wind, the vacation status of so many public works people between Christmas and New Years, and the number of vehicles that got stuck, were abandoned and remain in the way of clean up crews.
But the trains are back on schedule, and I’ll be able to hop on one of many to make it in to MSG tomorrow night, so all is well.
Morning dudes! Another successful work night Phish journey! Eric and Diana and I rode into RI around 12:30 I figure, and what a show. Phish sure knows how to put on a Phish show.
^Funny you say that about Hood Fone, cuz I thought of you when they played it. Once upon a time you said something along the lines of you’d never met a Hood you didn’t like … this must have been years ago, maybe during second hiatus a.k.a. the end forever this is it we’re done. Anyway I don’t know why that sticks in my mind, maybe just because Hood is perfectly deserving of such a comment. It was well played last night fwiw!
Oh and it’s been Possum & Light following me this year. I got Possum’d Monday, and I was sure I’d hear Light last night. Nope! I didn’t even get Tweezer or Antelope, and I thought I would likely get one of those. Still though it’s tough when you love a band this much. You want them to be ALL BANDS to you in some ways. They’re only human though and human bands have limited repertoires with staple songs, even if they’re alien humans.
Well I got lots to do, but I have Electric Ladyland playing & I’m the only one here. Glad I could find a moment to blab though. Have a fine coffee if you’re havin one, smoke 'em if ya got 'em, life is a bowl of cherries, Skiing Is For Jesus, Santa Loves The Little Children, B.Y.O.B., sign up for our FREE newsletter.
Xmas shit down and the living room rearranged, yes I am an interior designer at heart…
It is a nice day today!
Love you all!
I understand the Phish / song / show deal, I mean I think I have had enough Possum/Divided Sky for awhile too. Sky is one of my all time fave tunes, but I get it…
morning ollie, ryan, kevin, fone, i think that’s everybody
i seem to get divided sky’d a lot. i like it too but i wouldn’t mind going to a few shows without hearing it.
off today, most of the snow finally melted. gonna go get a new hoodie to keep me warm in NYC! looks like the weather will be ok there. kinda chilly and partly cloudy. hopefully it won’t rain. i gotta work tomorrow then flying out the morning of the 31st.
Not much happening today. A little work from home this morning, meeting some online friends for drinks in the city later, and then a concert at MSG after that. Another ho hum day ahead.
^ i hear ya bill… just a yawner of a week so far. went to prince last night at msg (twas siiiiiiiiiiick), woke up now in our midtown hotel, going to see what this show is all about tonight, we’ll see if i like these guys. meh
minneapolis airport was a shitshow yesterday. long story short… i got on our flight, andrea missed it… i had to ruin the surprise that i got us prince tix to make her realize how desperately we needed to be in nyc yesterday (she had never seen pee-rinse)… she bought a one-way ticket and made it by 7pm… didn’t miss a note of the man in purple pajamas, ridiculously fun night. up til 5am. can’t sleep. just tossin and turning right now. great way to start out these 4 days of mayhem, sleep deprived.
and here we are i guess. might just pull the covers over my head and wait til tomorrow.
still can’t get this song outta my head. maybe it’s a sign (jay z has been known to rip it up with the phish… eh??? EH???)
