Doojer, that looks MISERABLE. I’m not even kidding. But hey, I’m glad everyone else likes the warm beach climates. That way it’s much cheaper and easier to move to a place where I can freeze my nuts off for four months a year!
It’s been below 30 degrees for the past, oh, ten days. If this were a perfect world, it would stay that way until mid-April. But that’s what moving to New England is for! We still have our snow on the ground, but it’s gonna melt slowly over the weekend most likely. This has been the greatest birthday present Mother Nature has ever given me! All this snowstorm has done is confirm that I want to move very far north.
And hey, this time you guys started the weather talk, so don’t get onto me for my babbling!
^I think you’re misusing heat, I’m guessing warmth is better term…heat has a very very bad connotation in the south, there’s no such thing as good heat
not to mention when the state of Tennessee calls their police self-anoints ‘the heat’ during summer time
^Yeah, I said that to my wife, that I probably should have called it warmth. But, to me, it’s heat. And I love it. 107 and dry as a bone is just as good for me as -10 and snowy is for Edward. That why constant trips to the desert are essential. In Santa Monica it’s warm. But, in Coachella Valley, it’s hot.
I like the heat, I like the cold. Consistency in anything bores me, that’s why I like Phish, don’t you know.
Morning OKfolks. Back after yet another emergency trip to Maryland yesterday morning. Didn’t get home until almost 930 last night, but it was a kickass productive day. And now I have so much comp time for this pay period, I’m done after two hours this morning. The rest of the day will be mine to relax and enjoy as a prelude to the 3 day weekend.
Global warming reasons aside, this winter has been, so far, like the winters I remember fondly as a kid. Snow covered ground from December through February and sometimes March was the norm, and I never quite got used to it not being that way for the past skeighty-eight years. In this sense, I side with Ed in my love for Winter, and embrace sustained low temps as a characteristic of life that makes things like hearty foods, fireplaces, hot showers and flannel somethings special to be appreciated.
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, and the server continues to be kind to us.
Happy Friday everyone. Make it a good one. Even if the weather is really shitty. Winter in Chicago sucks…there is no sugar coating it. Summer is what keeps us here though!
morning pa. i’ve been dealing with some serious congestion. the doc call me in something called maxifed. it’s pretty much ultra sudafed. i took the first one this morning and then went back to sleep. had some crazy ass dreams and then woke up totally wired
one more reason i like the summer, none of that constant runny nose and congestion. as far as humidity, i don’t mind it. something about working outside when it’s 90 and humid in shorts and short sleeves, sweating like crazy makes me feel very alive. the only thing i would change about where i live is i’d rather be closer to the ocean. nothing like sitting on a hot beach and then jumping into the waves to cool off.
ok, i gotta stop talking about that. it’s cold here and there is still snow in my yard. i’m going up to spartanburg this evening to jam with some friends. can’t wait to play some music!
You’re both correct. It’s pretty friggin awful down here. It’s at least better in the mountains due to the elevation, which keeps us about 10 degrees cooler than everywhere else in the South. Plus if you drive to the high mountains, at above 4500’ it REALLY starts to cool off. Feels like a damn air conditioner up there even when it’s 90F down in Asheville.
Good morning Pa!!! Holy shit I haven’t been up this early in weeks. Dressed and ready to go now, heading out in 15 minutes. Feels good to be on the same schedule as the rest of the normal world, for sure. So, it’s 11 degrees outside according to the weather website and my thermometer, so I went out and started my car about 5 minutes ago. Nothing like getting into a nice, warm car right off the bat to start your drive. I try to NEVER do a cold start and drive away in the winter, it’s just an unpleasant ride for a little while, what with the shifter being really cold and my clutch foot rubbing against a cold plastic door panel, ugh, fuck that. I couldn’t even imagine having leather seats again, man those things turn into ice blocks.
Soooo yeah. Railroad Earth tonight! Gonna be a great fucking time! The first of quite a few awesome concerts coming to the Orange Peel and other Asheville venues this winter season. It’s great how they pull in so many bands in the winter; I think it’s because the town shuts down so much in the winter because all the tourists are gone, and so they throw a lot of concerts to lively things up a bit. Fine by me.
Have a good one people! Lots of coffee! Oh yeah, and Bill:
Well, I think we both know. I like a man who wears flannel in the winter!
Good morning! Or 8 minutes past morning if you will. I seem to have turned into an OKP weekend warrior, which I dislike. I spend hours trying to catch up with the whole board and then when I (kind of) do, everything stalls because no one is around. I love what I do and would never, ever want a desk job, but sometimes I wish I worked somewhere I was paid to be on the Pa all day.
Hi Will and Dooj.
I don’t think I have ever tried kumquat. The word is not appetizing though.
